I don't feel comfortable discussing my reason.

But tell me why you believe in God or not.

I beleive in God, because i beleive the universe has reason to it and did come from nothing. I beleive in Jesus and christianity as I feel history supports christian beleif.

Agree. No holy scripts contain any proof. History shows no proof of anything and in most cases shows the opposite.

Even with that I would consider myself agnostic.

I'm not really sure why I don't. I guess it's because I didn't grow up in a particularly religious environment. Everyone in my family is Christian and we did go to church sometimes, but the idea never really set in even though I remember trying. I just never managed to actually believe what they tried to teach and if I couldn't do it when I was more impressionable, there's no way in hell that I'd be able to do it now.

While I was in middle school, I really had almost not faith, I didn't care about religion or anything. I think at that school, I had a total of 2 friends. I hated that school so much. I moved into High school and found faith, and really started to learn more about the church and about God, and I started praying and it made me feel good and it just seemed right to me. To me it just seemed to make sense, It gave a purpose to life and really improved my life overall. And because I took this incentive, I met alot of other people who were pasionate about their faith and it really helped me to gain friends and just feel good about myself. And it seems this couldn't have been done without God, and so I thank Him for everything and truely believe he is out there because if it wasn't for him, my like may still be miserable.

I don't want to invent a god. Just because I don't necessarily agree with the Bible shouldn't mean I have to invent features of God just for it to be logical. I'm not saying that it is illogical to believe in God, but if there is a god, I don't want to fabricate it.

You said it gave us strength to move on with our pathetic lives, how do you know they're pathetic? And does it bother you that we believe in God? If you don't believe in Him that's fine, but don't go calling people pathetic because they believe in Him.

Well, i don't think christianity considers human beings in general "worthless" or "hopeless" or anything like that? Was that what you're trying to say? I think it considers people sinners? in other words they have done bad things, but are not inherently worthless.

Okay, thanks for clarifiction, I don't think christianity considers people bad, just that they have done bad actions and are sinners. Oh and people do a hell of alot more than one bad thing ;) Though i would be interested in some verses defending your position.

Science has nothing to do with religion. At one time I considered becoming a Quantum Physicist, and yet I believe in God and am actually probably going into the seminary to become a priest. Science cannot explain how the universe ultimitely came to be not even close. And that's where God comes in. If science was so great it would have easily disproved God by now. And dispproved the hundreds of christian miracles that can still be seen in European churches and stuff today and yet they can't.

I'm not sure if I would agree to this necessarily, because I formed my opinion from the Bible and not because of current events. I would say if I had lived 2000 years ago, I would have a better answer. ;)

People do do a hell of a lot more than one bad thing. but people also do a hell of a lot of good things. In christianity they don't matter a jot unless you're 'saved', and that just rubs me the wrong way.

Ah i see, well the point of christianity is not just offer salvation to the good, but also offer it to bad. It offers salvation to anyone who is repentful and lives in Jesus. Admittably though there are people who do alot of good, but the good doesn't wash away the bad. I feel if God judged that way, he would only be loving us based on what we do, not what we are ;)

And the bible is a great book, why throw it out :o

But the thing there is that what one believes is a fundamental reflection of who that person is. That's the biggest problem I have with with the whole "believe in Jesus to get saved" - that's basically saying that God's playing favorites with whomever grew up and was shaped in a way that made that person more open to the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and all that.
