To mainstream and "catchy" for most people. I only like maybe 5 of their songs, but I think they're really great songs. Plus I've seen them live and they put on a great show. I get why a lot of people don't like them, but I think they're a decent enough band. They've found a winning formula at least and stuck with it.
Because they are very generic. I don't hate them, but after a while all their songs blur together. There are so many better bands around than them so I dont pay much attention to their music.

That was funny. Still doesn't really explain the hate. This "hate" seems more like a fad, the cool thing to do to look good on the internetz... I really don't like their music, but "hate" is too strong of a word.

I think the hate has more to do with their songwriting capabilities. I'm not a fan at all, but I will admit they have definitely improved since I first heard them like 8 years ago.

Because they are bland, unoriginal, and they are known to be very obnoxious about their fans. I don't hate them, but its hard to like them, let alone listen to them.
Their songs are generic garbage that all sound EXACTLY the same. Plus, the lead singer's voice just really rubs me the wrong way. Whenever he sings, it sounds like he just thinks he's really awesome and he just has absolutely no right to think that.
terribly bad stripper music now. very mediocre writing and .... well most everything else. i thought their first album that had leader of men and breathe was actually pretty decent but every album since has been record company drivel.

I don't like music that's just dumbed down and only talks about sex or drugs or alcohol. It takes absolutely no effort or thought to do that, and it usually makes for awful music. They didn't always used to be like that, which is probably what disappoints me the most about them.

Its just the voice of the singer that makes me cringe. I dont like his voice. And their songs are not my type of rock music. Well its pop-rock but even so.
I should know, I'm Portuguese and remember seeing that on the news. As much as I dislike their music, this is shameful behaviour. That happens anywhere, though. Mobs can get unruly, especially if booze is available. I hope the people in attendance got their money back.....
