Especially vodka. o_O

Almost every type of alcoholic beverage you can drink has an acquired taste.
If you are new to alcohol, I suggest mixed drinks to start with. Mix Jack Daniels with Coke. Mix any vodka (I prefer Svedka) with orange juice or a fruity drink. Mix Everclear with... well maybe not Everclear till later.
If you want more recipes hit up this whole interwebs thing I keep hearing about.
Or just drink beer!
Lol im currently drinking sprite mixed with vodka, 30% vodka, the rest sprite. Drinking it straight is just flat out terrible, I've been casually drinking for two years and the taste is still horrible. Ive only gotten used to drinking beer, the taste isnt bad anymore. But vodka always taste like crap!
I would also suggest just tasting different kinds of alcohol until you find one you like... myself, I'm a SoCo man.
Vodka is actually the liquor with the least flavor. It tastes good mixed with stuff like orange juice or soda. But I never really was a liquor person it just gets you drunk too fast and tastes bad =/. I do like beer though and beer is definitely an acquired taste and has so many varieties and it tastes and makes you feel great :).
I was drinking that last weekend. Was the first time I had it, I enjoyed it though. I love Whiskey.I would also suggest just tasting different kinds of alcohol until you find one you like... myself, I'm a SoCo man.

50% grey goose and 50% orange juice is the tastiest drink ever... I hate the taste of alcohol myself, but I love those.
Price really does mean a lot with liquor, I'd take an shot of grey goose over a gallon of vladamir vokda any day of the week, lol.
It kind of is an acquired taste, as lame as it sounds to keep repeating that. If you don't like the taste, then don't drink it straight. Mix the vodka with some coke or orange juice or something... Try something fruity.t3hrubikscubeRead my post ^^^ drinking it with sprite, around 30% of it is majorska vodka.
I dunno, I never got that *acquired taste* people talk about. I mostly think it's a fad though.

I've seen alot of people scarf down beers because it was the *cool* thing to do. I never honestly know if they like it or not. To be honest that was a couple years back but I haven't been to much parties or bars since then.
You're not supposed to like alcohol. It's essentially a toxin and a lot of the effects of alcohol consumption are your body's attempts to get it out of your system as quickly as possible. The reason it tastes bad is because the taste is supposed to act as a deterrant against any further consumption. To get more specific, the reason it tastes bad is because humans have evolved to sense small molecules as having a bad taste and odor since such molecules are the common products of biological decomposistion reactions. Put more simply, when something rots it produces a lot of small hydrocarbons in the process. Ethanol happens to be a very small molcule and as a result it gets interpreted by your sensory system as being a dangerous substance (which it is) and thus it elicits a reaction of disgust. It's not just humans who have this reaction but just about all animals hate the taste of alcohol. Humans are one of the very few species who will drink it without being trained to do so.

Yeah I know what you mean.
Liqour like that is just straight up hard drinking alcohol.
People have drunk alcohol for thousands of years, it's not a fad. What you're talking about is the way people drink alcohol and that's not really a fad, every generation has gone through it for years, something is illegal it's common for people to over indulge when they can also when people can get alcohol legally it's common to over indulge for a couple years before settling down to a normal drinking level. You can quite easily just have a cold beer alone on a summer afternoon, you don't have to go to a bar with a ton of people a drink yourself into the gutter.I've seen alot of people scarf down beers because it was the *cool* thing to do. I never honestly know if they like it or not. To be honest that was a couple years back but I haven't been to much parties or bars since then.

Vodka is my favorite alcohol. If you're looking for the best go with Grey Goose. If you wanna save a little money, go with Svedka. These won't change your mind about Vodka right away most likely, but they are distilled more times then their competitors and I personally enjoy them straight up or mixed all the time.

You guys need to go top shelf if you have that reaction. I usually despise the taste of alcohol, but if you get a really fine liquor it tastes much better. Like I mentioned before, try grey goose vodka, it's expensive as hell but it's worth it. You'll never want to drink anything else again.[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"]malibu with orange juice is pretty deliciousandyboiiiit makes quite a tasty drink :D ever had smoothies with rum? quite awesome as well :P
Because it's good for you. Just like when you were younger and your parents made you eat your greens even though you hated the taste. It's practically fact, anything that tastes bad MUST be good for you.
Ya, I feel ya, it is very much an aquired taste. Drink more, more often and you will get usd to it. Try playing some beer pong, youll be so drunk you won't notice the taste. I was just with my homies last night driving around and my friend and I shared half a bottle of Bocardi, drinking it flat. The more you can drink the more you can impress teh chicks haha
