As someone who lives in Europe, i'm really surprised Trump and Hillary made it in the finals. Let's face it, both are horrible canditates, you poor guys have to choose between pest and cholera. I'll never understand how Hillary won over Bernie, who at least isn't a complete fool :S

Also it's really sad that people go out to vote for the only candidate they think can survive for 4 years xD

I like how South Park puts it: it's like choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

It's hilarious to posit only liberals are voting Clinton this election. Christ, newspapers that've been around for over a century are coming out and voting democrat after having voted conservative all these years. Pretty impressive, Trump!

This election's quite edifying. Nothing like a good old fashioned bigot unafraid to spew his filth to reveal peoples' true values and character. Now I ascertain who not to respect with one simple question.

Unfortunately, Trump's now set a precedent that it's acceptable to tap into hate, intolerance, and act like a child to appeal to the LCD voter. This won't be the last time we'll see someone like him in the running. He has diminished the integrity and dignity of this office simply by running for it.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Honestly speaking, I think both options are terrible. Hillary is too left wing for her own good and Trump is someone I couldn't trust as far as I can throw him. At this point I'd take a talking rock over either candidate. This is just like, the WORST election of all fucking time. The way things are going, it looks more like Trump is giving Hillary the win. I really don't think he even wants to be president. He's always been a great business man, I refuse to believe that he's this stupid politically unless he'd want to lose on purpose.

Hillary too left wing? ROFL. The far left has no love for Clinton because she's a committed CENTRIST. Why in the world do you comment on politics when you can't even get basic things right?

And Trump a great business man? Where are you getting your info?

It's stupid enough to argue being President is about athleticism, but Donald Trump is 270lbs and over 70 years old with an abnormal fear of releasing by his health records. Why are trump supporters always so dumb, stupid, and crazy?

America knows Trump is the only option, aside from the bleeding heart liberals. Thankfully there really aren't as many of them as they like to pretend there are.

I'm not a liberal and I wouldn't vote for Trump if he paid me. I'd rather see the country not go into the toilet of a Trump presidency. Only people truly supporting him are those that don't understand government programs etc.

Yeah, people like to pretend he is a great business man even though he inherited his wealth and has declared bankruptcy before (can't remember if it was more than once or not and I'm too lazy to look it up). Plus being a business man is not the same thing as being a politician, not by a long shot. To be a (good) politician, you need to have great social skills and tact and you need to know the people, three things which Trump lacks. As much as I hate Hillary too, I could at least see myself having a civilized conversation with her at lunch. If I had lunch with Trump it'd just devolve into a screaming match. Hillary at least has a background in politics, shady and two faced as it is. Electing Trump would be the equivalent of electing a spoiled little kid.

The whiny "it's mah opinion" defense doesn't wash. There's simply no basis for the opinion that Hillary is far left unless you're some kind of extreme rightwinger. There's a reason why she's despised by much of the far left and why Bernie Sanders ran against her from the left. Her husband was a triangulating centrist and so is she.

This is not about you repeating what I say. It's not about me feeling better either. It's about you not knowing what you're talking about.

It's pretty obvious that you can't defend your opinion, so you're crying about me instead. Not a good look.

Trump won't have the chance to destroy America tho. He's down by too much with only five weeks to go.

Only someone that has no idea what a centrist is would call Hillary "too left wing". Seriously, it seems that if you're not a facist in the U.S., you're labeled as "left wing". The Clintons are about as moderate as it gets.

@killered3: Opinions are fine and all. But even they should be backed up by facts.

For Example: Borderlands 2 is a shitty game because of absurd HP bloat which continously puts you on a curve based on grind and luck rather than skill. The Side Quests are pretty dull with a few exceptions, the level design is poor and the gunplay feels off. Due to bullet sponge caused by the HP bloat. Also the RPG elements are half baked as hell, with the skill tree being nothing but dull +5% stuff, and nothing that really dramatically changes your playstyle.

That is a backed up opinion.

Hillary is a centrist, and she even admitted as much herself. She panders to the neocons, just like she panders to the liberals. The only people who are not welcome in her tent is the far right people (alt right, primarily). Who she actively shuns.

@GreySeal9 said:

And to make matters worse (for him), the gap between the two is only rising. And millenials are opening up to Hillary Clinton,

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2016/10/06/clinton_gaining_among_millennials_but_obstacles_remain.html

Hillary's strategy of encouraging people to vote is a brilliant move and way more preferable to the "vote for me, I am a woman" stuff she did before.

Edit: It was pretty funny how merely a week or 2 ago, people were claiming doom and gloom for Hillary because she only lead by 2 points or so. And bam, one debate later of hillary wrecking trump. Her lead is growing and now nearing 4 points.

What I did was provide an example of backing up opinions.

There is no reason as of now to think that Trump will win this election. Since pretty much all evidence points to hillary. The only advantage Trump has is that his demographic are more likely to vote.

@GhostHawk196: Donald Trump being able to make the country great again? I have no idea where you got this info from. Anyways, look at this example: when Arnold Schwarzenegger became Governor of California, Sacramento came to a grinding halt because he didn't remotely have a clue of what he was doing thanks to not having any real political experience. If elected, (a big IF) then I assume something very similar will happen with Trump. He's a half-assed business man and pseudo-celebrity with zero political experience... sounds horrid. On the other hand Hillary is absolutely lifeless and she doesn't seem like a viable candidate either. Right now it is looking like there is a big turd sandwich in November and unfortunately us Americans all have to take a bite.

No one's arguing with you about Trump's inevitable defeat. But that aside, I think it's stupid to feel obligated to explain a disagreement just for the sake of it being a disagreement. You either agree or you don't. I didn't ask for a life story!

But I digress. My "point" was never my real point to begin with. I just like to stir the pot and see people's reactions.

All I will say is that if you Trump supporters actually think he is going to win in November, you might want to pull all of your money out of the stock market and into either cash or bonds...probably cash because the bond market probably won't react favorably to Trump either. The one thing Wall Street dislikes is uncertainty.

Clinton is a known "commodity" in fiscal policy; Wall Street has a general idea of what to expect from her fiscal policies. Tump? Who knows what his actual polices are, since he won't reveal any details of his economic policies. If Trump is elected, expect a 30% slide over the first year of his presidency for the S&P 500 due to sheer uncertainty alone.

I will certainly be hedging my bets, although I think the odds of Trump actually being elected are much slimmer than the polls indicate. That said, I'll definitely be buying the volatility index...

I'd sooner take a month of a sickly Clinton followed by 3 years 11 months of Kaine than a single minute of Trump.

But that is assuming your preposterous theoretical is even remotely possible, and it is not. Hell man, Clinton was out there campaigning and speaking while she was sick as a dog; where I come from, we call that kind of person a hard worker, a trooper.

the argument from health is a pretty silly argument imo.

think it through for just a second. suppose clinton was elected and did die in office. that wold put kaine into office who likely is closely aligned w/ clinton in terms of political ideology.

if you are a clinton supporter, what sense would it make to vote for an alternate candidate who likely does not align ideologically w/ clinton ( your first choice ) more so than clinton's own running mate from the same political party??

Let's be realistic here between the 3 names we've heard of during this who presidential election, Donald Trump is the only one most likely to last the full 4 year term. It's pretty obvious old man Bernie sanders has no energy and is too old - probably die during his term due to the stress which comes with this job and shillary clearly has health problems and might also die during her term. Both not enough energy, Donald trump is active and will clearly be able to lead the country and make it great again. He is also tough and not a sissy like Obama, shillary and old man sanders. Let's get real guys, Donald trump will be Prez. Anyone else agree?

make it great again? LOL!

I remember reading about an Indian guru who "taught" many disciples in a mountain castle. Christopher Hitchens wrote of meeting with this man. He had miracles, saved people, all the usual stuff. Talking to a former devotee of the guru, nothing seemed odd about the guru in this man's eyes.

He was a Buddhist (Busshism teaches to not like material things) guru who had the largest collection of Rolls Royce cars on the planet? Nothing seemed strange

Sleep with all the woman? Nothing

The straw that broke the camel's back was when he was sent to the store for a certain type of ice cream for the guru.

These things break down in insane ways, and Trump is insane on the level of any guru.

Lol that was actually Sam Harris not Hitchens.

It was on one of his appearances on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Small world.

You are right! Hitchens met with many a guru too, easy to mix those stories up.

It's funny because Donald Trump is certainly at least 10x smarter than you and has the power/wealth/status/formal education to reflect it (1000000x, to be more accurate, but who's counting).

You have my sympathies (when Trump's elected)

BTW

Supporting Trump is pretty much literally the only ethical thing you can do. As much as as buffoon as you think he is, he's at least not one of the most corrupt people in US government. Or you can stick with the media's argument that Hillary is better than Trump because Trump fat shamed some chick) LOL

If you think Trump is an idiot, at least he has smarter advisors to steer him (and if anyone forgot, our government is ultimately a system of checks and balances). Hillary on the other hand is a machine of evil.

if trump truly is America' only option, I think Americans should be very very worried about their country. this is no joke. America was once somewhere everyone wanted to live in.

Well Trump did say he wants to reduce immigration, maybe this was his plan all along, make America such a laughing stock that nobody would want to move there.

If Trump wins the election he's going to have to build that wall, not to keep the Mexicans out, but to keep the Americans in.

I still cant wrap my head around the whole small loan of a million dollars thing. It completely fails to account for what he inherited, it completely fails to account for the various bailouts Trump had. How can someone running for office be this dishonest? How the hell does he not see how presidency will ruin the trump brand? Thought Bush had a bad time, Trump will have it worse.

Trump is a failed businessman, of the various candidates, Jill, Bernie, Gary, Hillary. Trump is by far the worst of the bunch. Everyone else has redeeming qualities, Trump has none.

I'm amazed you had time to make this thread Ghosthawk. What with the constant need to hate anything Xbox related fueling you.

Trump has no place in politics, and nothing about his policies would be for the better. While he has some good ideas, he has said very little about how he will get those things done. That said he does have some interesting ideas in there on how to make america great again. The tax bullshit scandal only helped him. Now he is truly viewed as a hero for not paying taxes. The media was warned this was going to happen, and it fucking did. But seriously, this guy was a terrible businessman, and economic studies would show his policies to be worse than those of Hillary Clinton and Sanders.

Hillary Clinton is a downright terrible politician. Her speeches are generally devoid of policy substance, her ad campaign focuses on bullshit, and she outright contradicts herself. Her stance on Syria is far more concerning to me than her health issues. She has government incompetence written on her forehead. Stronger together may yet be the worst campaign slogan I have seen in my life. She takes her voter base for granted, yet it becomes increasingly clear that people she took for granted have a very high voter apathy.

Bernie Sanders has some interesting ideas. But would almost certainly be able to get very little done, by congress. But his policies are way more favorable than those of Hillary Clinton. While the strongest (or least terrible) of the 3 candidates, he is ridden with issues. Including some questionable stuff about GMOs and Nuclear Power.

If Trump was president, I would expect 4 years of a chimpanzee in office. With Hillary, we might get Tim Kaine for a few years, With Sanders I would expect a year or so in office and then Elizabeth Warren. Tim Kaine or Elizabeth Warren doesnt sound too bad to me, definately preferable to a chimpanzee.

Who are you to decide who belongs in politics?

I believe a voter, who does exactly that, along with everyone else on November 8th.

Both are crap candidates. IMO they represent perfectly what the US has become: crap. But anyways, the rest of the world isn't much better. There's a worrying lack of leaders that you could feel inspired by and the few left are considered a threat to keeping the crap that is the status quo functioning (Bernie). If you care a little about progressive politics (which most Hillary supporters already made clear they really don't by crucifying Bernie) then you'll have to vote for Hillary since she'll at least appoint a less despicable person for the supreme court but I'm afraid that even saving that superficial bit of progressiveness won't heal the much deeper wounds that conservatism and neo-liberalism is creating so might as well vote for Trump and bring everything down faster so you could at least start rebuilding everything from scratch as soon as possible.

Hilary Clinton is an awful democratic candidate. Mainly because it is so damn obvious that she is in bed with big banks. She contradicts herself a billion times, she is opportunistic and honestly hard to relate to.

Trump on the other hand says whatever he can to appeal to his base. He says he will scrap the climate change plan, but at the same time he is trying to build a wall at his golf course to prevent damage from rising sea levels. He mentions China every debate but he buys mainly Chinese goods.

If not for his stance on climate change, I would support trump over Hilary, even though I am a liberal. Frankly let's be honest, trump is right, Hilary has a ton of hate in her heart, probably because of all those years her husband was cheating on her with bimbos. I don't trust her. PERIOD. That video of trump saying mean stuff to women is way too coincidental and planned for my liking...a classic media manipulation scheme. Honestly the media has been expressing fake outrage over something that almost every guy has said or done in his life at some point.

Bernie should have been the dem candidate, it is frankly sad that we have reached this point and I have to support hilary.

I would take VP Kaine as being bumped up to President over Trump. I think I'll go the Sam Harris route and roll the dice and say I would take a random citizen as President and hope they ask qualified experts for help over someone like Trump.
