Cause we're lazy, for the most part we're fine with the way things are, plus a revolution is unrealistic.

Revolution is necessary for society to maintain itself. The people as a whole have the right to overthrow their government.

A revolution is when the people of a nation overthrow their government, usually with force.

Yeah I want to get a lot of money, mail everyone masks, hats, and capes, and then blow up monuments with an orchestra playing, preferably the 1812 overture, and then fireworks going off, and we run up and be like "OVERTHROOOOOW, OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMEEENT! YEAH!"

After I made a speech that played on everyone's T.V.'s and computers of course.

-but **** that, I'm too lazy.

You couldn't do anything with a revolt when society is this far along. Which sucks because me and many others really dislike how lifeless and uncultured our current society is.

That guy is my new hero and sums it all up really well. I always knew it, I just couldn't articulate it the way this guy has.

THASOD, watch this ****ing clip right now, put on some headphones, or turn down the volume, a summary won't do the clip justice. It's a comedian ranting about the way the system is corrupt, but he goes into further detail, he swears a lot. A lot of eff words and other dirty sex words. but he conveys his message really well

Yes, its kind of sad. Every human has such great potential but I feel that life is essentially thrown away for what? A nice corner office or the nice parking spot at the front of the office? I dont mean to disrespect anyone who works in these kinds of jobs and isnt satisfied w/ their life, but isnt there something more? something beyond the status quo?

unfortunatly a revolution could never happen, not in the us, we are too comfortable, we think we have it so good competeing with each other and for what? we work so hard but were working for others never ourselves. Nothings wrong with good honest labor but is that all there is? I dont know this is kind of depressing.

OK I watched this video- George Carlin rocks, he's extremely funny, and he's a big contributor to our culture. That video is part of what makes our culture so great.

We have more creative people making more art, movies, comedy, books than any other previous culture. New inventions are designed every day and our science is continually developing.

If you think our culture is lifeless, haven't you noticed how vociferously we argue with eachother? We are diverse and truly we are more accepting than at any time in history.

That doesn't mean we're cultured. In fact, that drives us away from being cultured. Multi-cultural bull****. We're all becoming the same - with terrible values. Go to a high-school and look at all the kids who just don't give a crap anymore. They seem to take up around 25% of the school. Movies? Comedy? Books? Most of this crap is useless entertainment. All that people want to do is be entertained.

Goals? Who needs them. Art? Art Shmart! Manners? Pffft. People who do have intelligence use it just to make more money.

Since these (art, music, entertainment) define culture, perhaps you mean to say that our values are wrong instead of that our culture is weak?

edit: and if we are all becoming the same, then why are we all so different that we can't even agree on anything?

Cultured : the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.

Having a bunch of cultures doesn't make us cultured.

We don't even have a real original culture. We're *everything nice* about every culture mish-mashed - censored too. If there's so much wrong with a country that there are comedians dedicated to making a living pointing out what's wrong with it is enough for me.

What is the point of a revolution if there's no point to it but just creating problems for everyone? It's better to solve situations like the citizens we are rather than doing mindless activities that wouldn't really help the cause.

Just wait until oil gets so expensive that we can't ship food across the country anymore. We will either find a way to live sustainably (and hopefully lead more fulfilling lives because of it) or most of us will die.

who would we form a revolution against? If you mean Americans revolting against their government, I think that would be a bad idea. Its not that bad living in America. I agree that the economy is down and our administration isnt the most honest one, but were really lucky to live in America. I like to say if its not broken, dont fix it.

really? a corner office?

No, not really. I enjoy my job, I am a chef. I get to practice my hobby, create art, and make people happy at the same time al while making money.

I then take this money, and purchase video games and pay my rent and bills, which in turn increases my happiness.

I dont know where this ideal world you talk about is, but the real world that exists now is pretty damn good if you ask me.

*I do agree, howeve. There is nothing wrong with honest labor, but my motto is "work to live, dont live to work."

[QUOTE="Berzz"]Why would we? People have jobs and money. What else do they need?mrbojangles25

exactly

maybe a life thats more then just having a job to make some abstract concept known as money so we can exchange that for meaningless crap.

Do you really think people want that?

no but its what we do.

That's the problem. People are afraid of risking what they have for a new, more meaningful life.

I dont know this is kind of depressing.

really? a corner office?

No, not really. I enjoy my job, I am a chef. I get to practice my hobby, create art, and make people happy at the same time al while making money.

I then take this money, and purchase video games and pay my rent and bills, which in turn increases my happiness.

I dont know where this ideal world you talk about is, but the real world that exists now is pretty damn good if you ask me.

That is the epitome of awesomeness.

The only reason I'd support a revolution is for Libertarianism. I want my hookers and blow and my DECISION whether or not to help the poor...This is coming from a guy that is pretty much homeless(The second his parents decide to kick him out).

Revolting against the US government wouldn't solve anything. To the people saying we need a revolution, who do you suggest we revolt against? In what ways?
