whichever one(s) you think exists. mostly the christian god though since it's the best one.Which god?
Blue-Sky
Which god?

That would make you agnostic not an atheist. An atheist would have had to propose the non-existance of God.
I found out that God had a nicer car than me so I stopped believing in him out of spite.
Now my GPS keeps falling off my dashboard.
I believe in god, but not religion. To me its seems illogical to base your life on a set of rules from a religion that cannot prove that its god is the real one. Also the organzied religions are devoid of the more basic laws of science.
there are things we as a species do not understand, but we should search for answers with logic and reason, not seek answers in 2000 year old stories.
Seriously, did you just take an interest in religion or something? So many religious threads lately.washnwaxmine is better :P
this board seems to have more atheists and agnostics and other variations of non-believers than believers. god had to have been the catalyst for the universe seeing as how something cannot come from nothing. so why don't you believe in religion? were you religious before? what made you see the light? if you're still religious, have you ever considered atheism?ZumaJones07
God was the catalyst? So he's the bastard who created the Reapers! Nietzche was wrong, it's not "god is dead, for we have killed him," more like, "god will die for we must kill him, TO SAVE THE FUTURE!"
Seriously, though, I stopped going to church because I got sick of religion (the petty arguments, the dogmatism, the heavy-handed methods for pushing it onto other people), I stopped believing in god because I accepted that there was no proof and decided that there are two kinds of people, those who can accept religious belief without proof and those who can't and simply aren't meant for religion. I accepted that I fell within the latter group, and therefore I became an atheist.
There's no necessity for a first cause. When you prove to me that there MUST be a first cause then I will accept that god MIGHT be that first cause, but I see no support for the former statement. It's not saying something came from nothing, it's saying that perhaps the universe did not begin but is infinite. Either way there's no evidence, but it seems as likely an explanation as a first cause and therefore there is no necessity for a first cause.
Why don't you try Panendeism? :) It's my belief. JOIN JOIN JOIN JOINI believe in god, but not religion. Simply by accepting his argument you've killed the same amount of brain cells as you would by taking a belt of whiskey. Well, maybe not my whiskey, but most whiskey.

An overwhelming majority of Atheists are agnostic.
It's a matter of semantics to what defines the word "god." Most people are 100% positive Zeus and Odin don't exist.

I don't recall ever agreeing with you before, but then again I tend to ignore you very often in debates. Nothing personal. my mind just skims over to people who I know provide intresting points.[QUOTE="RahXephon101"]Why don't you try Panendeism? :) It's my belief. I WILL NOT JOIN A RELIGION ABOUT KITCHENWARE HANDLES
Sounds silly.
I believe in some form of power of creation for this existence with an open mind to even a God of some kind, but I sincerely doubt it's some dude with human tendencies that had some infatuation with us. The Bible is just ridiculous, it's a fun little book with a lot of crazy stories but I doubt even religious people don't read some verses and just think wtf.
It was a slow process. I believed for a while, then I started thinking about how strange it was that a God would deny people heaven for believing a different faith, even if they lead good lives. Then I kept thinking about all the suffering in the world, and all the people who go unpunished. Then I looked at all the other religions, who all believe they are the one and true. It was a pretty wild ride. No event turned me away, I thought more about how amazing the universe is, and how it all works together following the same basic laws, always. I thought that was really cool, and I figured there was no way a being could create the universe to follow certain rules and at the same time create life from those rules originating at the big bang. In my religion, I claim God would reverse engineer the universe from a point of life, but I made that up, and it seems just as plausable as anything else.

It's not the same thing.
In any case what you're saying is to you the existance of a God is just as likely as its non-existance?

I considered atheism for a brief moment, a crisis of faith mind you. That was soon resolved however and I have since learnt that Christianity has more depth and truth than I have yet to fully realise.

lol btwI'm an atheist because of things like Blue-Sky posted. Was raised catholic, not once did I see any sound reasoning or logic or any good come from religion. I was at much peace with myself once I stopped going to church with my family.

I'm just curious did you ever try to see the logic in it? Were you ever catechised about the lives of the saints and Christ?
