Why Is It Impolite To Ask A Woman's Age?

Asked my grandma when I was like 5... Supposedly it makes them feel old and that makes them feel uncomfortable. So, a gentleman never ask a lady their age, as to not make them feel bad.

I never really saw the problem with that either. It's not like I mean anything funny when I ask a girl for their age.

It's not impolite if they are visibly young.  It's only rude to ask if they look old.
