Why is it okay to kill People at War but not in the streets for more legitimate reasons, such as hunger, money to survive etc
And why is it a Sin to murder people everywhere except if you were at war?

This question can't be real. :|

I think its actually a pretty good question...Why do we do that?
Its been one aspect of human behavior that I can never seem to figure out. :?
This is not the caveman days here. Nobody is starving, there is no reason to kill somone for food.GmasterRED
:| We have millions of people on the planet starving or suffering from malnutrition..
You're generally fighting to protect your beliefs...or something alone those lines...they threaten you..you eliminate them before they can harm those you love..
[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Glad I wasn't the only one stupefied by it. :lol:I am just going to leave this thread and wait for the 5-10 pages of even more ridiculous responses.Probably a good idea.[QUOTE="GrandJury"]This is one of the most ridiculous questions I've seen in the OT.GrandJury

Thats hardly how war has ever been waged historically.
because war is bloody politics, and it's justified so that we can enforce the majority's/superior entity's ideals on how to manage society. Therefore it is a condoned method, and those that dies just casted their votes with blood. It's wrong to kill in the streets because then the streets would be unstable and society would have to adhere to a new code for fear of its own safety. As for murder, it's the unlawful killing of another, ans war isn't the only time killing is condoned. Bringing a person to justice and self defense are also generally accepted by most. Why is it okay to kill People at War but not in the streets for more legitimate reasons, such as hunger, money to survive etc

Civil War - South Defending it's beliefs...It was mainly the elites of the south who duped the non slave owners into a war predomnately about slavery.. It was hardly defending its beliefs, because they were the ones that made the secession from the US from unfounded fears..
Revolutionary War - Defending Beliefs..
They weren't defending their beliefs.. They were sick of tired of payng taxes and quartering troops from a country that hardly ever gave the services they were suppose to have in things like security and the like.
It's not ok. But people have gotten it into their heads over thousdands of years that it is. I mean it is certainly less bad than killing someone in the street who is helpless or any other type of "murder" but killing is killing imo. They're all bad.

America has plenty of starving/homeless people..
War is different. It's an armed conflict which tends to mean kill or be killed. And it can ultimately save many lives. Also I don't find hunger nor money to be a legitimate reason to kill.LJS9502_basic
It can be if you're in the right situation.
It's not okay. I think there are rules of engagment and stuff. Say a soldier from the opposing side raises his hands in surrender, you cannot kill him in the rules of war.
But heh....usually wars happen and are conducted so the other side never does the bad thing they are doing again.
Killing someone because your hungry doesn't make sense.

Indeed, such is the reason for many child soldiers in Africa. If you're family is starving then you won't be particular about where your bread comes from. Of course there's also the child soldiers manipulated into it, but that's a different matter.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]War is different. It's an armed conflict which tends to mean kill or be killed. What can? Killing for greed? It's not okay. I think there are rules of engagment and stuff. Say a soldier from the opposing side raises his hands in surrender, you cannot kill him in the rules of war.

What can? Killing for greed?A lot of wars are based on greed. It's just not individual greed.
Are you two serious? Put down the hype tv and learn to reality. There are NO starving people in America. Zero. Zit. Nada. People who are too poor have food stamps.

What can? Killing for greed? It's easy to say it's for greed when you have a computer, a warm bed and food every night. Not so much when life is stacked against you. Always remember that you can only truly understand someone's situation by experiencing it.Besides, when you have no other useful skill to contribute to society, what are your other options, and are they really any safer?

They believed in being free from british rule and such......And the South was being taxed unfairly and they also believed that the north would change their way of life..Please Log In to post.
