WTF is wrong with people!  Columbine. Virginia Tech.  Why do people go nuts here?  I live in Dallas, Texas...one of the most violent cities in the U.S.  What makes people so crazy in the U.S.?  Is it the hectic atmosphere or what?  Sure, there is violence in Iraq...because there is a WAR THERE!  What is the excuse for all the violent nutjobs on their last thread of sanity walking around in the U.S.?

I know, it is such a new problem. Like all of a sudden there has been so much violence in America, after we lived in peace and harmony for so long once we became a nation. I blame the formation of GS and then Mod bannings from the forums for the increase in violence.

People are violent everywhere. I was going to say students aren't even safe at school anymore, but where students ever safe at school. This is ridiculous. It's sick. There's no excuse for why students weren't told about the situation. Even if they "believed" that the gunman had fled, why take a chance? The students should've been on lockdown all day or at least until they knew everything was safe. Not until they "thought" it was safe. It sucks that schools aren't really prepared for this stuff. We're supposed to have lockdown and fire drills every month. We haven't had a lockdown drill since school started in August and fire drills are often squeezed in at the end of the month.

Weapon availability. That and freedom exploitation.SaugaGames

Once again, weapon availability is NOT the problem. The American mindset of hardcore individuality and martyrdom against the social "elite" is. You have to understand, most of these psychos think they are heroes of some kind. Rebelling against the ideals of society itself which they, in their sick minds, see as heroic. Thing is, many normal people feel this way too. How many songs these days glorify old murderers and gunman from the west? I've lost track of the number of songs that go on and on about how cool Billy the Kid was. Despite being a mass murderer and obvious psychopath.

How many movies are made which glorify the adventures of the individual gunman? Again, it's the mindset, not the tool.

I consider this funny since it was an asian male who went on a shooting spree at Virgina Tech.

The reason why there is so much violence in America is because of the culture. It glorifies violence every chance it gets.

Thank you for enlightening me, sir. I'm aware of this but it was a fault on my end to not make note that my point was a contributing factor, not a direct reason. Oh and I'm not being sarcastic in case it seemed that way.

It's more than that. There are just sick people out there. I don't know why everything like this seems limited to America. Crazy stuff happens everywhere. Violence is glorified globally. It's not something that's just here is the US. I'm not saying that we don't have problems, because obviously we do, but they're not limited to America. These problems are global.

Exactly.  The nice thing about the communist ideologies like stalinism and maoism is that you eliminate the sources of violence by exterminating your population and thus preventing them from their own violent means.

Well I'm referring more to the mindset that everything has a dollar value.  By harming your neighbor/brother/competitor you allow yourself to gain more dollars or spend fewer.  That simple fact has many complex repercussions.

Yes.  Stalinism is great at exterminating everyone.  You need to wipe out at least 10000 innocent people to get at that one guilty person.  Purely justifiable under the stalinistic offshot of grand communism.

Although I respect your opinion, I completely disagree with it. People love to talk about the flawed American society. No society is perfect and I can guarentee you similar incidents or equally disturbing incidents occur in many other places. People of every country are exposed to the harsh reality of guns and murder. It's not just here. There is no exception. People have access to violent media everywhere. A main portal is the computer, which is widely available in other countries, as well as the Internet.
