[QUOTE="Vader993"][QUOTE="SaintWalrus"] In my biology class, I had to write a paper on evolution and its effects over the years. I wrote an essay on why I don't think evolution exists. And I got an F I think the Academic world should, for lack of a better word, EVOLVE and ADAPT to accomodate those of us who simply refuse to believe.SaintWalrus
You don't need to believe in evolution to write a paper on its effect. The teacher failed you because you don't follow the instructions. Think of this way a teacher ask a student to write a paper on the effects of Islam. Instead student writes why he doesn't believe in Islam. He failed because he didn't follow the instructions.
It's like being forced to write an essay on "10 reasons why God doesn't exist." I would simply put 1) he exists 2) the bible 3) he exists 4) miracles 5) he exists and so on. Which is exactly what I did in this case. Since I think the effects of evolution are all God's handiwork, I simply wrote my thoughts on a theory I don't believe in. You fail things because you don't look at them objectively. You have 5 points to why God exists, 3 of them are basicaly you being stubborn, 1 is an old book and 1 is something that can be logicaly explained with very little effort. The academic system works to make us think objectively, you look at what you see and you make a logical conclusion with those. We have overwhelming evidence of evolution, and barely any evidence of god. So we will naturaly rather continue to examine the Earth and try to explain things by using the theory of evolution. Just like in construction we have overwhelming evidence of gravity and various forces and all that, and we use those to build structures, not some godly who-knows what.Being laughed at and looked down on for not acknowledging something that's proven and without real argument is not the same as being forced.TylendalThis. >Boy sees red car. >Boy says "Look at that awesome blue car!" >Friends laugh, "That's not a blue car, that's a red car" >Boy cries because his friends didn't accept his assertion that the red car was in fact blue.

If evolution is as real as these scholars say it is, then I think the Academic world should follow its philosophy and EVOLVE and ADAPT to accomodate those of us who simply refuse to believe.

Obviously you just haven't been paying attention (probably for your own stubborness). Evolution is not a philosophy. And evolution does not slow down to accommodate those who get left behind. They just die off.
Your whole topic and topic title just demonstrates your need for attention and your desire to be some sort of martyr. Nobody is forcing you to believe anything, nobody is persecuting christians or believers. Everybody has to go to school, everybody has to write papers. Just bite the bullet, get through it, and then do whatever the hell you want when you're 18, just like everybody else.
they force you in school to learn biology. i just don't like learning about how cells are. What ever happen to the argument; If we evolved from monkeys, why are their still monkeys around not evolved?playmynutz
That argument was always idiotic. Firstly, I don't think "monkeys" is what we evolved from. I'm not a biologist or anything, but I believe "primates" would be more accurate, if not more general. People just use the word "monkey" so that they can feel more insulted and make a bigger deal out of hating the idea of evolution.
But, sticking with monkeys, there are hundreds of known species of monkey living today. Do you really expect them all to be exactly the same? We're different from them, they're different from each other. If we evolved from monkeys, and those other species are still just monkeys, then we won, didn't we?
That argument doesn't disprove evolution, it just shows some people's misunderstanding of the concept. The way they talk, every bird would be the same, every fish would be same, etc. I guess those folks just like that idea, it makes that Noah story a little bit more feasible, eh?

Just live in the dark for the rest of your life. They don't need to DEVOLVE to suit your wants. It is unnecessary and a waste of tax payers money. I don't want to have to pay tax to fund some bull**** course for you idiots who don't think evolution is happening. It is bad enough our government subsidizes garbage like Poly Sci and Humanities. The miracles of science are nothing short but the handiwork of God. To deny such a self-evident truth, is to damn oneself to a never ending pit of lies and deceit, upon which burns with the hottest hellfire imaginable to any being.[QUOTE="SaintWalrus"][QUOTE="Heisenderp"]
Actually, it's a perfectly valid comparison because without calculus, you wouldn't have modern physics, modern statistics, modern engineering, computer science and every single field that remotely relates to math. Without evolution, you wouldn't have modern medicine, modern pharmacology, microbiology and every single field that remotely relates to biology.
So people who deny evolution but go to hospitals when they're sick and buy medication are hypocrites.

You must have spent so much time making this post, abusing the Thesaurus for every second word of your sentences, but you still make elementary school-grade spelling errors. That's quite pathetic.
There are no spelling errors in that post, whatsoeverUnless you work in a life sciences field, it's probably irrelevant whether or not you believe in evolution.
EDIT: In my professional life, it has never once been even slightly relevant that I believed in evolution. In fact, the only time it even comes up is when I'm bickering with people on the Internet, mostly here on OT.

I believe God gave living organisms the ability to evolve. Aside from possibly stating your belief in the paper, everything else should have been proven scientific fact. Evolution is NOT a belief, it is a scientifically proven fact. Not "believing" in something that can be proven as fact is ignorant.
