Why the movie The Love Guru got so many negative reviews?

It's sure not the best movie of all the time or whatever but i do think Mike Myers plays great there and it all very reminds of his Austin Powers characters and humour. I don't know why this movie got so many negative reviews as well as promoting Myers as the worst comedian of the last decade. Is this movie that bad?!

I watched it a few years ago, it was alright. Bought it recently and started watching it but turned it off. Never went back.

I was like 10 - 15 minutes in and I just thought to myself, I don't want to be here for another hour I'd rather be doing something else. The display was also annoying me because for some reason it was really letter boxed. I was watching the DVD version but it was much worse than all my other DVD's. 60% of my screen was just black the picture was tiny and I didn't want to fix it by changing display settings for one dvd when all my others are fine.

The story is terrible and it's incredibly unfunny.
