Holy crap, I'd never thought I'd see someone else from there. I mean, I miss Vernon and I don't miss Vernon, but still, it's hard to forget somewhere you grew up.DJ_Lae

I left about six years ago - I miss the ski hill in the winter and the lakes in the summer. Seriously, what qualifies for a lake here in Victoria is pathetic and if you swim in the ocean you're insane, or loaded with fat deposits to ward off the cold. I don't miss much else, though. Every time I go back I'm reminded how slow it all is. Sometimes that's good, I guess.I left about six years ago - I miss the ski hill in the winter and the lakes in the summer. I just checked, and it's surprisingly close to Auckland. I might have passed through on my way to Rotorua, but that would have been in the late '90s.

Relatively warm water, lots of sandy beaches, and scorching weather to enjoy it with. Beaches here are neat in their own way, but not so much for lying in the sun and swimming.
