http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salwa To save you from teh click. [quote="Wiki"]Salwa is a suburb of the Hawalli governorate in Kuwait, bordering Rumaithiya to the north and Messila to the south. To the east (across Cooperative Road), it overlooks the Persian Gulf. Divided into twelve blocks, it is a residential area with a population close to 36,108. Like all suburbs in Kuwait, Salwa has its own government-run clinic and its own shopping center. This includes a supermarket and various restaurants (including Burger King and Starbucks coffee). A McDonald's has recently opened in the public park, located in Block 11. la While there has been an effort by the municipality to move schools out of the area, currently a number of foreign schools remain. These include the Kuwait English School, British School of Kuwait and the Oxford Academy. Several public schools (elementary and secondary school) also exist. Houses in the area are generally 2-3 stories high, and a large number of Western expatriates reside in Salwa. Congestion, however, remains a major problem as most houses do not have adequate parking spaces. This results in vehicles being parked on public roads, causing heavily congestion - particularly during school hours. A newly built roundabout has managed to solve major traffic issues and decrease the number of traffic accidents. Still today they decide to find a better and more easiliy way to park their vehicles.

Been livin here all my life.

I left about six years ago - I miss the ski hill in the winter and the lakes in the summer. Seriously, what qualifies for a lake here in Victoria is pathetic and if you swim in the ocean you're insane, or loaded with fat deposits to ward off the cold. I don't miss much else, though. Every time I go back I'm reminded how slow it all is. Sometimes that's good, I guess.

I just checked, and it's surprisingly close to Auckland. I might have passed through on my way to Rotorua, but that would have been in the late '90s.

Dude the ocean isn't THAT bad. Tofino's water is waaaaaaaaaaaay colder. But the beach is a million times as awesome as anything in Vic.

I know, but I got spoiled growing up in the Okanagan with Okanagan Lake and (better yet) Kalamalka Lake nearby. Relatively warm water, lots of sandy beaches, and scorching weather to enjoy it with. Beaches here are neat in their own way, but not so much for lying in the sun and swimming.
