I am wondering what will happen in the coming decades in a country that is so heavily dependent on oil - everything from the shipping of goods to agriculture to all of the automobile-dependent rural areas and suburbia. It's going to start sucking real bad for a lot of people.
American government will collapse someday. Probably in the next 100 years. Don't blame Obama, the French get a new constitution every 30 years, we've had a good run.
It's already in its way down but maybe the consequences could be contained and they could just transition to a less relevant state. But that will require a change of mentality, the "American Dream" mentality is not compatible with making a smooth transition IMO.
We're not too far from a revolution or civil war as things standso I expect something to happen in the next decade or two. Either way, plenty of countries are gonna surpass the US in the coming decades with China probably becoming the leader.
