People on these boards hate Green Day but they were big back in the mid 90's, and are still pretty big to this day. Red Hots will definitely be remembered.lonewolf604
Let's not forget that...people hate Green Day NOW because they are "sellouts" and have gotten too popular and mainstream (yet they somehow forget to mention that Dookie sold MILLIONS of records and that Green Day has been "mainstream" since at least the mid 90s).
But back in the 90s, when everyone was trying to tell me about Green Day, I was like, "this crap sucks".
Yep. I was hating Green Day before hating Green Day was popular. In fact, hating Green Day has become so popular that now I've decided to like them just to be different.
Legends is a mighty word for a band to be considered. Red Hot Chili Peppers could be considered for that title. The others aren't innovative enough, and are a little too pop-oriented and/or immature to be considered legends. Not to say those aren't good bands.
RHCP has been around for 24-25 years now. Started off with more immature songs, but eventually grew out of that. Flea and Frusciante are legendary in their means (bass and guitar), and Kiedis has one of the most recognizable vocals in music, and has a talent for writing lyrics. Since Blood Suger Sex Magic, haven't had anything but critical and commercial successes. And they have plenty of unforgettable tunes. Maybe in their own rights they are legends.

I know a ton of "immature" bands that can be considered legends. That's a very subjective term
Uh Old Greenday and Old Blink are already considered legends by most people who are into good punk, they started off the new punk movement........which turned into a wave of sell out bands!
But in all seriousness, Blink is probably my favorite band......Dammit is just too good of a song. Sorreh. :\
RHCP will be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame.
Green Day probably won't and Blink 182 is screwed because of their musical content. A big reason why they are hated is because they don't take themselves seriously at all. Humorous music simply isn't taken seriously unless it is very blatant like Weird Al.
EDIT: Radiohead is a lock simply because they made quality serious music and people will always say "they were able to overcome Creep. How nice"
Now that I think about it, they have lot's of fans and millions of albums sold. Every record the haved released has gotten plenty of attention by the people. Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, I miss You by Blink 182, and Californication by RHCP are huge songs that people still hear. I have a feeling that they will become classicsin 10 years. Radiohead could also be seen as a legend for releasing a free album in the net and leaving EMI music. What do you think about this? Will Green Day, Blink 182, Radiohead, and RHCP be seen as legends in the future? :DMrEnvelopeI hope not, at least I hope Green Day and Blink won't be. RHCP have some credible talent and creativity behind them, so I wouldn't mind them being looked back on as "classic". Radiohead would deserve the title as well. I mean, I guess with Blink and Green Day it's all a context thing. If you mean "classic" in the context of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Talking heads, David Bowie, Joy Division, etc., then absolutely not. If you mean "classic" as in Duran Duran, Air Supply, The Culture Club, then yeah, sure. I've got no problem with that.
As much as i like Blink, they wont be considered legends. People have already forgotten about them.
Green Day will be remembered as the first commercial punk band, along with The Offspring, however will fall short of being considered legendary.
RHCP have a chance, cause their sound is entirely unique, and they have endured time better than most bands. Also, Flea and Frusciante are well known by a lot of people, and therefore give the Peppers more of a chance.
i love blink-182 but i dont think they will be considered legends just a really good band.
green day might be considered legends tho
RHCP have to be considered legends they have lots of great songs
I think Green Day and Blink 182 are much more forgettable than RHCP. Also RHCP will probably stand as an example of how to do stadium rock live. Not only do they often perform better live than on CD, they also improvise all the time. Only very rarely will their live version of song sound the same as a studio version.
It's also pretty impressive what the band has gone through, and that they're now making music with the four of them after all that. First 2 band members died, and then frusciante was pretty much at the verge of dying too to drugs.
Red hot chili peppers, yes
green day, i really really REALLY hope not
Blink 182, are you serious? hell no
Yeah, easily.
EDIT: Damn almost no one has good taste in music here. IMO. Blink 182 is a great band.:|
The three have potential to...I can't really think of anyone I know who can't dig at least 1 blink 182 song, it seems to be a lot of peoples fall back band, when they're in a horrible mood, throw on some blink and things seem a little brighter.
I will say that blink members side projects will never have a hope of exceeding the popularity of blink
Red Hot Chili Peppers? Overrated would be an understatement. Listen to their songs, they are the same thing over and over again. Never fresh or innovative. If they will be remebered, it will be at their height in the 90's with Under the Bridge. The best song they ever recorded.
Green Day used to be excellent. Then they completely sold out. American Idiot was loved by 6th graders worldwide, not getting the lyrics, missing the message, literally the definition of a POP song. Not punk.
Blink-182?
Really?
^ This. Very much so.RHCP - hell yes the will be remeberd
greenday - maybe, not sure, i like afew songs
blink 182 - HELL to the no
legend26
I can see Blink 182 and GD being called legends, but what is RHCP?_LiquidFlame_Red hot Chili Peppers. They are the only ones that will be known 50 years from now. I'm a big Blink 182 fan and I know they are not going to be remembered.
