Will the world really edn in 2012?

You know that movie 2012 comign out November. It got me thinking, are we all going to die then? Ive read many articles and videos and scientists say every 7000 years, the North and South Poles separate or something, causing chaos. The Earth has had a few Armagedons, but why would there have to be another in 2012. Ill only be 16, im too young. lol, anyway, I also learned in my social studies class that the Aztec Indians predicted the end of the world in year 2012. also, there is an asteroid orbiting Earth, and its course changes each rotation. It will eventually smack into Earth, scientists say in....you guessed it....2012. So, whats your opinion?

Tell you what, assuming your still alive and the internet is still up come back to this board probably anytime in January to the tidal wave of "2012 told you so" threads.

Sometimes I think this whole 2012 thing is just made up so the kids can live through the end of the world just like all us Y2K survivors.

Oh yah, Mayans did say that. And Im saying that the world wont end and scientist are trying to make money predicting all this. Im gonna go see that movie though.

The mayans had the last date in there calendar is somewhere in 2012 (Dont remember the actual date) They picked 2012 because thats when all of the planets will be in alignment (so ive heard) But many have learned that they made that date as "the rebirth of the world" which quite frankly sounds like armageddon but with survivors. Personally I do not believe in any of it. Although the Mayans are smart, but come on there is nothing to prove it will happen. And no there is no meteoroid circling the earth.

But who thinks the movie 2012 looks great. I do. I just love how if the apocalypse happens we actually made fun of it with a movie. xD

I don't know why people think this. Its when the myan calendar ends. You think they could make a calendar that could go for an infinite amount of years? They probably got bored of making calendars and stopped at 2012.

It's not doing you any good. I mean you just said some very vague stuff about fields and asteroids, you don't even have a coherent idea of what is supposedly happening, yet you're gettting worried? Rest assured the world is not coming to an end, scientists have found nothing whatsoever to suggest it will, and the Mayans did not predict the end of the world in 2012. Just treat 2012 like what it is, just another year on Earth.

i heard that the calender was just broken at the point where it talked about one of there gods, i belive the god of war and life bringing?(not 100% on that) but any way, he descended to earth and thats about when the calender was broken...but they have also found other parts of the calender that relate to dates in the 3000's

No it will not as I know of. The only thing that will happen at least is a sun flare that will heat up the earth and will cause a drought and will starve many people to death. It will burn or other things to people. I read a book and thisastronomer, studies the stars a lot and he says that there's no planet coming to earth so we're safe from some crap.

The Mayans world ended every 52 years. They had a giant calender with different rotating wheels, and every 52 years it go back to the same position it started in. Then the Mayans would put out all the fires and break everything and live with no technology for 5 days. Then after 5 days they would make a giant fire, then someone from each city would take a torch and run to the giant fire and bring the fire back to their cities. Then they start making stuff again. The Mayans did this a lot. So just because the Mayans said the world would end in 2012 doesn't mean we are all go to die. There will probably be a world wide blackout and then we have to start over again, or nothing will happen. So I think we are all going to live.
