Poll Will you take a COVID-19 vaccine? (63 votes)

No 21%
Yes, as soon as possible. (In the next 12 months) 65%
Yes, but I will wait. (2022 or later) 14%

The Pfizer vaccine and the Moderna vaccine will soon be approve by the FDA/CDC and their independent panels. Roll out is expected to begin soon after (by mid December). Doctors, nurses and first responders are expected to be the first in line to be inoculated due to their critical work.

Will you take the vaccine as soon possible if available to you?

PS: Mods, this isn't a political topic but I understand the thread could turn that way anyway. Lets try to keep the thread in OT as long as possible.

Yes, I would take the vaccine once approved. If doctors and nurses are taking it and so called "1st tier" individuals are taking it too like the President of the United States, the cabinet etc then I would too.

That doesn't mean I have 0 qualms about it, but it is time to end this awful pandemic.

If I get to, I see no reason why not. But since I use common sense, like so many of us don't, I'm following regulations and keep away from small populated areas, so I doubt I'll ever need a vaccine.

I would just ask for some data. If they check out and the vaccines are properly approved by regulators, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Just my standard confirmation procedure, since I know what to look for. Anti-vaxxers are idiots.

Yes I will take the vaccine once it’s proven that it’s safe to take in the short time and no bad affects in the long term?

@Litchie:

My wife, and me have been following regulations since April.

We’re both working from home, and we get our food delivered.

We don’t really have any houses gathering, but yet somehow she got it on early November.

We really don’t have any clue how she got it since we been super careful about it, but it happened.

Then 3 days later my kid got it from her. I put both in quarantine in separate rooms.

I got really lucky my self cause she was coughing for the whole night and we were in the same bed cause I thought it was just a cold. We still share the bed the next day and on the third day when she was not feeling better, I took her to get tested because she started coughing more and started having a fever.

We never thought she was going to test positive because of how careful we were, but she did and she got really bad, and had to be hospitalized.

My kid was fine with just minor symptoms, but a cough that lasted 3 weeks.

Also my wife is in really good shape, she weighs 130, she’s 28,and always goes to the gym, so it’s not like she had any medical issues.

Point is, that even if you follow all the rules 100%, this thing can still get you.

Yeah I know, sucks you got it. I was mostly thinking of those not wearing masks, those not thinking about not picking their nose, rubbing their eyes, whatever, those who gather in places where they can't be at least one meter apart from eachother, those who travel even though they don't have to, etc.

Nice to hear you guys are ok.

I’d take it for the common good, but I’m not thrilled about it. Vaccines normally takes years to test. Surely those devoloping times are there for a reason. Some side effects obviously take a long time to manifest themselves. I’m also not that scared of getting the virus, since I’m not too old.

That being said, I think we all need to make a little sacrifice to get society back on its feet. It wouldn’t be right to let everyone else play russian roulette and skip it myself. So when the day comes I’ll take one for the team 😬...

I work in the Medical Field as a Nurse Practitioner and we will be the first to acquired Covid-19 Vaccine from our health official said. (I was gonna take it asap cause I value my health more than anything else and I been following this data how it's safe anyway)

By the way Master_Live, this is hardly Political talk from what I seen and this is basically health related so not really going to PG and this is more OT discussion.

If I'm offered one for free, sure. But by the time my government provides a shot for me I'll probably already be immunized the natural way (maybe I am already). I can't count on my employer, either, since all they care about is profit. I work in a pharmacy BTW and I regularly get infected people come to get their corona therapy. They go to special clinics where all the staff wears frigging space suits, then they go to the pharmacy themselves like everything's normal. But let's not make it political. :)

I'm not an anti-vaxxer though the fact that the vaccine has been (almost) approved after less than a year has me a bit troubled. I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough about vaccine preparation and clinical trials but it feels way too soon.

Then again, the vast majority will take it and being vaccinated for Covid 19 is probably going to be mandatory for anyone wanting to travel so I guess I'll have to take it sooner or later. I probably won't be able to for a few months anyway as the first batches are reserved for medical staff and the elderly in my country.

As soon as it is available in my country.

But I wont be taking it primarily for myself. I will be vaccinating myself for those who can't. Herd Immunity.

99% survival rate.

20-25% negative reaction from vaccine amongst test cases. UK has already set up a fund to deal with people negatively affected by the vaccine... expecting something ?

Nah I’ll wait to see if y’all turn into vampires first.

Not a chance I will take it. I think it’s rather ignorant that so many people are willing to say yes right away to it like a herd of sheep.

Now that my country will be a good few months behind the UK, I'll be more comfortable to take it and see if there are any side effects etc.

I rather wait till a year or two since it's not mandatory. It feels rushed just to get society back on track slowly to what it used to be.

Yes I'll definitely take it, once it is approved by our local regulators here in Aus. We are in a fortunate position here where there is little to no community transmission of the virus here, so they can take their time and go through the data.

But I definitely expect to have the vaccine next year.

@PfizersaurusRex: try thinking for yourself instead of eating up whatever governments feed you. They’ve consistently lied to their own people throughout this entire pandemic. I don’t follow or believe in any conspiracy theories so I am unsure why you are bringing that up.

I don't trust my government one but, but I understand how vaccines work, and they are approved by people with some credibility, not by politicians. If you think they're not credible enough, well then we can just wait forever.

Count myself in. After Britain, Canada now accepts Pfizer vaccine. Hopefully, if things go well with this vaccine, more countries will follow suit.

I'm a cautionary vaxxer, meaning I take vaccines, but only after they've been on the market for a while and only if necessary. As such, I'm voting to wait, though I'll probably get it around June or July if it's been proven safe and the pandemic is still serious enough.

That being said, if I do go into a place offering the vaccine and they refuse to tell me which vaccine they are giving, (Ie Pfizer, Mederna, ect), I'm turning right around and exiting the building. Personal policy of mine to not buy/take anything that I don't know who made it or what it is.

I'm also not going to take a new Chrona virus vaccine every year, it's not the flu and it'd take at least half a decade or so for the virus to mutate enough to warrant another vaccine, barring human intervention of course.

Not a chance:

1) Had it

2) You still have to follow the same protocols like wearing a mask, even with the vaccine.

3) The vaccine can make you sick

4) The virus is not deadly enough for someone in my health/age level.

I never get a flu shot either. No reason.

In consideration of others?

Just because you are in an age range does not mean everyone else is. As for becoming sick, not sure how that's possible. As far as I'm aware, this is a vaccine based on mRNA, not a weakened virus strain so you shouldn't be getting sick from it.

The vaccine(well Pfizers and Moderna I think) contains no actual parts of the virus. It contains a mRNA copy of one or some of the spike proteins in the shell of the virus. Some machinery in the body will process the mRNA to produce related proteins, the immune system will notice that these proteins are foreign material and thus launch an attack on them. That immune response could mean you feel sick for a day or two. The mRNA strands doesn't last long...

I have cold/flu like symptoms but I think I have COVID 19 a mild case of it? So far nothing serious has happend to my health other then feeling like random sickness. I took a day off work on Sunday because I felt like I had a fever, wasn't sure,so I went to the hospital and I was told I have the flu with the possibility of Covid-19. Nurse too the Covid test and I got the results positive. From what I learned so far Covid can turn on a dime and get to be a serious problem.
