Last time I went to the dentist, he said we'll have to get my wisdom teeth pulled off, and he gave me another dentist's phone number. The thing is, he didn't tell me when I should go.

I'm asking those who got that operation, should I wait for all four of them to be visible? Should I wait until it hurts? The two from the top are just fine, but the bottom teeth are growing perpendicularly to the others, so I don't know if they'll ever actually be visible.

Get them to X-ray your teeth soon. They don't have to be visible. Mine werent' visible, but they were already growing so close to the nerve that if I waited another 6 months I would have ended up with paralysis on my lower jaw. Better be safe and get an x-ray and the dentist's recommendation.

Screw "waking up", take it like a man and use a local anaesthetic

Besides, listening to the drilling and crunching sounds while listening to death metal is hardcore!

Don't wait until they're all visible, definitely don't wait until it hurts.

You should be going to the other dentist now. They need to look at the situation and then they'll set up the appointment to take them out at the right time

Get them xrayed asap, just in case. I'm scared to have mine done, I'm gonna make them knock me out for it, and give me the strongest painkillers theyve got.

Well the first dentist did x-rayed them, and he said I'll have to get them pulled off. Never said anything about when though.

Don't wait until they're visible. Take care of it early or you may regret it later on.

I thought my wisdom teeth were fine. They all came in parallel to my other teeth and I never had any problem out of them. Until about a month ago that is when the left side of my jaw began to hurt. For a couple of days until I could have them removed, I had to deal with the most excruciating pain I've ever felt.

I actually transcribed the entire ordeal on my blog. Trust me man, that's not pain you want to subject yourself to and if they're coming in perpendicular to your other teeth, you could be looking at problems sooner rather than later.

Mine don't bother me, so I would say wait and see if they need to be pulled off or not.

If anything it hurts more when you go unconscious. Because they don't give you local anesthetic when you go under. The anesthetic completely numbs the pain and makes it so it doesn't hurt. The anesthetic stays for about 3 hours, which is the period which it hurts the most anyways. I've known some people who went under. When they woke up, they were in lots of pain. I wasn't, because I still had the local anesthetic working on me. Didn't hurt one bit.

All the videos on youtube of people waking up made it look like they didnt hurt at all... What scares me the most is people having sharp things in my mouth. I can't imagine seeing them pull a tooth out and not flipping out right there.

I think I'm getting mine out this summer. However, what if you can't take pills?

The first day is the worst, least with what I had. Once the medication wore off, it hurt like a mother. The next few days it sorta hurt, but nothing that was really bad.

I had the two bottom ones removed when I was in 4th grade. It didn't hurt when I got them out though, since they knocked me out. (Though the following days were another story) I wouldn't wait if I were you, listen to the dentist. He probably knows best what it is you need to do.

HMM... I went under AND had local anesthetic.

They put so much in there my mouth was frozen all day afterwards.

Get X-Rays and call that dentist. Mine were growing perpendicular and hadn't even broken the surface yet, but I had them taken out like 6 months after visiting them about taking them out.

Before you even think to call the other dentist, make a thread on Gamespot and ask for dental advice from gamers. It always works.

Mine aren't visible, nor do they hurt, and I already have an appointment to get them taken out in June.

I had all four of mine removed at once. Ugh it was horrid. I took the anesthesia or whatever that knockout substance is, and I don't remember the operation at all. When I came to though, my mouth was numb, and I was changing out toilet paper swabs every half hour to soak up blood in my mouth for the rest of the day. I remember watching Blankman that day lol.

Call the new doctor, have him check it out, and he will give you an actual appointment to come in later and get themremoved if they need to be. I had mine taken out, and two were under the gums when they did it. They just cut through the gums and ripped em' on out. I only had novacaine, not any sort of laughing gas, but I think that differs from doctor to doctor. Theyll let you know all of the things you shouldnt do afterwards. Its not too bad.

Wouldn't you want to get them out early, to avoid having your teeth overcrowded?

Well anyway, I was born without wisdom teeth

I got all 4 removed at the same time. All were impacted, and rotated so they had to do some more digging/cutting. Worst pain ever. The coedene they gave me made me sick and so did the anti biotics. Anyways, the first day is the worst, as your gums will bleed like mad. Anyways, just get it over with. And dont eat anything that will get stuck in the sockets! I ate popcorn to soon, and that caused the socket to become infected, and oozed green stuff and made my breath stink. Two weeks later I was sitting in McDonalds eating and my socket opened up and out came the popcorn kernal lol. Everything fel better after that. So yeah, do what your dentist tells you.

I had all of mine pulled. The Dentist kept fooling around, and I was was getting mad. He must have seen the look on my face, so he opened his hand, and there they were. Didn't hurt a bit.

The only thing I hate about going to the Dentist, is the that the anaesthesia takes 4 hours or so to wear off; and I am ALWAYS hungry after I leave the Dental office!
