A woman who doesn't want kids. It seems like taboo in this society. But I highly disagree. I happen to be a woman who doesn't want kids. I don't hate kids or anything like that. I just don't want to deal with the responsibility and burden of motherhood. I want to be free to live how I want without worrying about another person every 5 seconds. Plus childbirth kills and has lots of negative effects on the body. What do you people think of women who don't want kids? I think they're good people just like everyone else. And some of them would make MUCH better mothers than some of the moms today -_-

Im guessing that you are young and will change your mind down the road. Every older person, woman or man, i know who never had kids has told me that they regret the decision not to.

Seens to me an easier decision than having any. It's hard to judge given the current trends in society and it's development. Often find myself wondering about the future, what legacy we'll give the next generation; hopefully not one -as one has written- of misery.

Based on the TCs other threads, I think it's safe to assume that she's pretty young and will eventually change her mind. First of all, you might find men right now who are willing to date you, but when you get older and tell a man that you never want children, he'll probably write off any thoughts of a serious relationship with you. You're going to be seriously limiting your dating options, and women can already be picky enough, so good luck with that. Second, the responsibility might seem huge at a young age (and it is), but once you start to really see the effects of a full-time job, relationships with men, total independence, I bet you'll find the idea of children quite tolerable and actually a good break from your working life. Third, kids can be a great investment. Because you ARE going to get older....

Producing and rearing children are biological imperatives imposed upon women, as is evident in their very anatomy. Breasts are meant to sexually attract males and feed infants. Ovaries store the eggs which are implanted with male sperm. The uterus houses the unborn fetus/ baby. And the vagina welcomes the penis to impregnate the female. By not wanting to have children, you are rejecting the very reason for your existence. You must procreate. You must raise children. To do so is your destiny.

if you don't want kids, fair enough. It's your decision. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Just don't go around judging other parents like you could do a "MUCH better" job, when you're never going to actually do that.

  • Women who can't have kids are anomalies/ aberrations/ exceptions, and should not be used to justify the refusal to obey the biological imperatives of reproduction and child rearing by women who can do so.
  • Your analogy regarding killing is invalid because killing is not a biological imperative.

Biological imperatives are not imposed by society, but are imposed by nature - that is, your genetics. You, I, and everyone else exist solely to pass our genes on so that - in a way - we can continue to live even after our deaths.

You said that what someone "should" do (a moral question) was dictated by biological imperatives. Justify your sad excuse of a justification for reproduction.

I'm speaking from an evolutionary perspective (i.e. under the premise that we are animals who abide by the rules of nature). That is all.

That has no bearing on the validity of biological imperatives. I admit that I am a failure.

In that case, you bring a concern to the table that

1. No one is unaware of (if u dont maek offsprings ur genes died - omg ur genius)

2. Apparently, given the above, many people do not care about.

Nonetheless, I would like to award you THE OFFICIAL 2014 CAPTAIN J. OBVIOUS AWARD FOR REMARKABLY AVERAGE POWERS OF OBSERVATION
