No, it was not meaningless, purposeless, sprang out of thin air, and existed in a vacuum.

You have a bad habit of making flawed inferences based on the posts of others and not fully understanding the posts that you read. You seem to be very defensive for some reason.

Anyway, I just got off work and need to sleep for a little while. Talk to you later.

Just to be clear, me saying that I am going to sleep is not an accusation that you're telling @br0kenrabbit that he needs to travel more. Nor is it an argument of any kind. I hope you don't get so unnecessarily confused again.

(Went to grab a chilli pork belly and wasabi sandwich, comes back)

Right. Off-the-mark mockery, semantics, evasion and more obfuscation for your failure to take responsibility for a mock paraphrased assertion which you clearly attributed to me. It seems you are intent on boring me to sweet, merciful release of death. Yay. I'm rolling my eyes in anticipation.

In summation, my message to br0kenrabbit was simple: please get out more.

I've been to 14 countries and 21 states. How much more outgoing should I be?

14 countries is not very much

Anyway, of course real fish and chips is not produced in America. Just like real Pizza or real cheese or real food in general.

On pizza, you know those thick-crust American-style pizza? They don't have those in Italy. Italian pizza is strictly thin-crust. Also, try not to be too demanding about the toppings. They get pissy.

And the history of cheese is so ancient and convoluted, it's not worth trying to ascertain its origin. Every local variety of cheese is therefore "real" to that locality, in this case. Not me saying that either; some countries actually have laws that define just that.

It is for an American. We can't just as easily hop from one sovereignty to the next as Europeans can.

Also, when I go on a long trip I am likely to fly myself. And since I am only licensed for small, single-engine planes I can't pilot across the ocean. When I do decide to go to the other side of the globe, I don't go alone. So it's not just a simple matter of me deciding to +1, it actually takes a lot of things to fall into place.

Look at each post made on this website. You'll see that each one has a username attached to it. That username is the username of the person that posted that post. The post that you're so upset about has my username on it. I am the one that made that statement. I attribute that statement to myself. I do not attribute it to you. I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand.

The only assertions that I attribute to you are assertions that you've made. A statement that I make is not the same thing as an assertion that you make.

Oh for crying out loud. Let me make this simple for you so I can go do more important things, like getting back to playing Total War: Warhammer. See this statement:

@thegerg said:

More! Do what I say until you agree with me! Until then, you're WRONG! Uncultured swine.

One simple question: do you really think this is something I said or would say? Simple yes or no.

No.

Thank you. In other words, you pulled that out of nowhere, it served no purpose, and therefore a complete waste of time. Moving on.

I've told you numerous times already that I attribute that statement to myself, not to you.

Please don't be offended by this question, but do you have some sort of learning disability? You seem to be having a very hard time understanding a very simple concept.

I'm not even going to dignify this question with a response, so I'll just leave you with this: the function of language is communication. Words that do not serve the purpose of communication has no purpose. During a discussion between people, a statement that does not convey a point behind it is similarly worthless, and therefore a waste of time. Don't waste other people's time.

"I'm not even going to dignify this question with a response"

Haha, you're such a liar. You responded to my post with a paragraph of text. If you're not going to respond, just don't respond. Don't respond but say you're not going to respond.

You're VERY bad at understanding the basics of written communication.

Read the actual paragraph. It was a response to your post, but not a direct response to the question in your post, which I deemed unworthy of a response. It served its intended purpose.

@thegerg said:

@madrocketeer:

Also, simply because a statement is not attributed to you doesn't mean it has no purpose or is a waste of time. That's quite an odd and narcissistic way for you to think about how other people communicate.

The world doesn't revolve around you.

Whatever. I got my answer. If your post really had absolutely not one inkling of connection to me and my arguments during the course of this conversation, then it is what it is. What ever was the actual point of that post is for you to decide and no longer of interest to me.

My main favourites are : Mexican, Indian, Thai, Italian

There aren't really any that I flat-out don't like... but I tend to generally avoid foods that I consider to be "bland" in flavours, such as meals like roast meat and vegies etc (like you see a fair bit in British/German cooking). I find food like that incredibly boring.

I wrote that to highlight the silliness of the idea that a person doesn't know what foods taste good because they don't travel enough.

Just because someone doesn't travel doesn't mean they don't know good food. That said, cuisine is extremely diverse, rich in history and full of cultural influences. I would therefore encourage people to strive to expand their horizons, and not pass sweeping judgements based on a personally limited scope. I learned this the hard way, by the way, as I illustrated in my experience with ravioli earlier in this thread.

Also, travelling is obviously a very good way to expand your horizons, but not the only way. Indeed, I don't travel as much as I used to, yet I make it a point to learn something new every single day.

Make a "Captain Obvious" statement, get a similarly mind-numbing reply. You know the drill.

So easy some people still manage to mess it up. In my opinion, of course.

People have mentioned some of my favorites here already except it's disturbing that no one mentioned one of the best in the world: Peruvian cuisine. That shit is Godsend.

Another one missing is the unbeatable Argentinian barbecues

There are plenty of British (and others) immigrants who bring their culinary skills with them to the New World.

My wife makes authentic Philippine food. Her cooking skills didn't disappear just because she moved here (in the US) with me.
