[QUOTE="jointed"]The British army? Probably.Nkemjo
No, most likely the Chinese or Greek military.
Nope.Seriously though, those countries aren't even contenders.
The PLA or the Peoples Liberation Army (Chinese Army) was formed in 1927I think it is the Chinese Military.

However the military history of China began in or around 1500BC
The oldest surviving regiment in the British Army is the Honourable Artillery Company (given a royal charter in 1537), now a Territorial Army unit. It is not considered the most senior, however, because it fought on the side of Parliament in the Civil War and so didn't have unbroken service to the crown. This honour instead goes to the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, which was founded in 1539. The oldest surviving regular unit is the Royal Scots, founded in 1633.
That is the oldest British unit till standing.. so look for some older than that, it's a start.
BTW: Here is were i got that information
The oldest surviving military structure can't date past the 15th century because that was the dawning of the modern era. The oldest military will be found in the first modern state to have emerged fully formed from the middle ages. numismaticWell then, it looks like the Brits won the prize.
The papal Swiss Guard has been around since the 15th century.Neon-Tiger

That is made up "PLA". Becuase China never really had a name for the army, that name was created to name their army.
While usually attributed to Michelangelo, Commandant Jules Repond created the current uniforms in 1914.I was gonna say the Swiss guard too. Here's a fun fact about them. Their uniforms were designed by Michelangelo.

well you said military, so im thinking of the whole nine yards, army air force, navy etc.
I'll say the country with the first air force...(USA maybe) for the air forces are last to come into service.
