[QUOTE="Vympire"][QUOTE="dominer"]Mass Effect and MGS3 are good examples of GOOD cliffhangers.but, maybe because these games are so EPIC it doesnt matter if they have cliffhangers or not.dominer
How exactly did ME leave off with a cliffhanger? I don't think that was a very good example of one...they killed the "boss" guy, killed the guy who was controlling the "boss" character, and had almost all their question answered...the ones that were important. The fact that the other..."bad guys" might come back from dead space doesn't really count.
*I tried to reveal as little as possible.
We still havent learned everything about the protheans
We still dont know about where the reapers came from or what their motives are
We dont know how the other races will take a human being on the council(And yes, theres a good chance the good ending will be used as a basis for the next game)
If thats not good, explain or show an example of a good cliffhanger.
The nonexistence of knowledge about a certain civilization isn't a cliffhanger...it's just something to learn more about in the next game.
We know what the reapers do...pretty much exactly to the finest points. They are going to try to do the same thing...but since we cut off their waypoint, there was no cliffhanger there. We knew how and we stopped it...where is the cliffhanger?
Since you choose if the council will have a human or even if we will lead it...actually, you choose if you even save the council or not in the first place...but anyways, because it's your own decision...there is no cliffhanger. There will be humans on the council..they will actually be leading it. The only cliffhanger I can think of is HOW the reapers will come back...since their only known waypoint is gone.

I'm really surprised by the amount of people posting who completely didn't understand the message of No Country For Old Men's ending. The message was all about how the US had changed ... with drugs and violence becoming commonplace and the inability of small-town America (and the police) to deal with it despite clinging to their traditions and values. Javier Bardem's accident was just that - a step toward the ending of his life as a hired killer...but also reminding people he got 'away with it' as criminals so often do now. The old days of the sheriff on the white horse always winning has ended. If you don't get it, try reading the book by Cormac McCarthy (I realize that means stepping away from video games for a few and reading a book but hey, it's worth it - great book).

Good post, I was about to respond to all the people whining about NCfOM, because it's a great movie.
