Im fairly certain the worst invention ever have never gotten off the ground, i.e we've never heard of it. Although if we are talking about known bad inventions, then i'd have to go for the gyrojet pistol. Basically it was a pistol from the 60's which fired minature rockets instead of actual bullets, meaning the propellant was solid rocketfuel contained within the cartridge itself. The problems just were that, being a rocket, it's acceleration was pretty poor, and the projectile wouldn't become lethal before traveling 30 meters, the rockets cost approx. 50$, the ironsights are crude, and the gun is smoothbored, meaning that the rockets had a tendency to wander off target, which just isn't affordable, when you need a minimal distance of 30 meters, to be lethal.

oh how about life alert , not only is that helpless, the ads they run for it , are so stupid, first they try a lady in a bathtub they claim she fell ya right if she fell she would have been facing the other way ,

and the 2nd commerical i saw the lady carrying grapes , she faked the fall cause there was nothing on the floor , to make her fall ,

then theres the smartcar

then we have hd dvd and beta tapes andsuch ,, i hate when i have to rebuy movies cause they cant support an older format -sure it was nice transfering from vhses to dvds but dvds to hd dvds and or blurays give me a break

half the time the bluray cost more ,,shows less picture-has an even bigger black bar onthe top and bottom ,

and dont add anything to the dvd version that was already there

Didn't the mythbusters try that and it didn't work? the finger in the barrel didn't actually stop the bullet, that is? There was also the davy crocket nuclear bazooka that the US tried to make, I forgot about that one.

That brings up another interesting point, the Nuclear Bomb as a Whole Could really be called the "worst" Invention ever, In a sense.
