It dosn't.

Tokugawa77

Exactly...

but It isn't the worst thing, the handgun that tried to fire small rocket propeled bullets failed more... You could stop it from firing by pluging the barrel with your finger :P

Didn't the mythbusters try that and it didn't work? the finger in the barrel didn't actually stop the bullet, that is? There was also the davy crocket nuclear bazooka that the US tried to make, I forgot about that one.

It doesn't work with a regular gunpowder round, because the bullet is accelerated to top speed nearly instantaneously. Rockets don't do that, in fact, the gyrojet's muzzlevelocity could be as slow as 20 feet pr second

The Helicopter Ejection Seat

DmadFearmonger

That's actually not a bad invention. It might sound like it right off the bat, but the helicopter is usually designed to blow the rotors off before launching.

4 legged tables and chairs, if they just made them with 3 legs it'd be wobble-proof, and even though we've landed a man on the moon, made the atomic bomb, and can accelerate particles to just a hair under the speed of light, we still utilize wobbly chairs and tables and public restroom doors where you push to enter and pull to leave, that's my second nomination

In terms of military inventions:

The Russian Tsar tank built during world war one.

Tokugawa77

That actually looks pretty epic in my opinion.

If for some reason it failed to do so?

I agree... Whatever it's supposed to do, it would be interesting to see in battle footage.

Bassicly this... It wont work with a regular gunpowder one but with whatever Prototype Rocket bullet the military tried out you can just plug it...

Never mind the fact that rockets also tends to curve because their super susceptible to wind and tends to fly around the contours of objects :D

REALLY! They made that?

Wow... Humans can be really stupid sometimes...

Sounds more like a joke stocking stuffer than a legitimate product to me.

Any way, my pick would be the scalpel.

That's the "worst" invention? Really? The atomic bomb is a masterpiece of technology and invention. The purpose of the invention doesn't stop it from being any less amazing.

The atomic bomb isn't a worthless or bad invention in itself, by any shot. The internationals laws and treaties surrounding them are.

I'm pretty sure that the implied meaning of a "bad invention" would be one that fails to fulfill its intended purpose, or whose purpose is useless. In that regard, the atomic bomb is not a bad invention because it was a resounding success, fulfilling it's intended purpose even more effectively than anyone imagined. One could argure that it actually saved millions of lives, because it forced Japan to surrender rather than fight on, and an invasion of Japan would have resulted in millions of civilian casualties. Don't get me wrong, I hate the atomic bomb and have seen thehorrible effects it has on its victims, havingbeen to the Hiroshima memorial museum.

I wasn't using "bad" invention in that sense.

Then the spider ladder isn't a "bad" invention either because it fulfills its purpose.

I agree with snuggie for dogs, but not most of the other things on there. It seems like they were running out of ideas? CFC's? Agent Orange? Come on...

whats wrong with segways? they look mad fun. also what about people who have trouble walking huh? you heartless monster.xTheExploited
I'm sure that if someone has problems walking, They won't want to stand on a device that is composed of 2 wheels and a leaning turn feature. They'll most definitely go with a motorized wheelchair/scooter thing.

Not everyone who has walking problems is unable to stand. My grandmother damaged her inner ears and now has trouble balancing. There's another person I know who tried to kill himself with a crossbow (and failed) who has the same problem (but even worse). Both could benefit from a segway, but unfortunately neither can afford one.
