Would the fate of the human race trump a woman's right to choose if our world population were less than 2,000?

Let's say that nuclear warfare has killed every person in the world not living in Texas. There are 2,000 of us left and after some time, they decide to instill a government with laws to help make the new world seem normal and bring about some order.

Given that the human race could effectively become extinct in 18 years, would you agree that a woman aborting her unborn baby is a crime against humanity? Should a woman seeking a doctor to abort her baby during this time be considered a criminal under the law?

I say yes. Repopulating the Earth should be our top priority and women keeping their babies is incredibly important in reaching that goal.

**** humanity, let it die out. Most creatures would vastly benefit from our non-existance.

**** other creatures, this planet belongs to us! I wholeheartedly believe that to be a fact. The Earth belongs to humans and it's our duty to be everywhere in it.

Except the ocean...and the north and south pole.

Trying not to take sides on the pro/against abortion I'd say that if a woman has the right to choose then she has the right to choose. The fate of humanity shouldn't be put on a woman's shoulders, especially if she doesn't want the baby. What if not enough Australian women wanted kids? Should we force them to get pregnant because the fate of mankind rests with them?

Preventing extinction by turning women into birthing animals is not the way to go in my opinion.

Don't know really. I just picked a length of time after the apocalypse that baby making would need to be at it's peak for the children to survive and start new generations of their own. It's the fake conditions for a fake scenario.

a population of 20k is more than enough to keep the species going. you think every woman who becomes pregnant is going to opt for an abortion?

So it has nothing at all to do with the nuclear weapons stuff? If we're going to throw that (that people are going to choose to stop having kids) into the mix, why do we need a nuclear war to be part of the situation?

it's more fun.

A population of 20,000 may possibly be enough not to have to resort to that.

In a situation like that, it would probably be frowned upon to have an abortion but with a decently sized population the world could still be repopulated in a few generations even if a few hundred of the women refused to carry a baby to term.

Whether or not it actually becomes illegal to get an abortion depends on who takes over after the old governments go down. Either way, anybody who flat out says **** humanity and doesn't care if we go extinct wil probably find themselves not a part of the new government.

I'm sorry...you just killed 18.000 people in Australia and moved the survivors to Texas. Why should we even bother replying to your thread?

A right should be valid and respected regardless of the circumstances. A woman's right to choose what happens to her body is her right regardless of the population crisis. In such a situation, it would be more beneficial for the remaining authority to give women incentives to procreate as much as possible. Perhaps monetary incentives or better access to certain services or equipment.
