Murder? No.

A better question would be "Is the person that steps out of the teleporter the same person that steps into it?"

That is a genuine philosophical debate, centring around the continuity of the person, which has bothered philosophers since Plato's time, but with more shiny zappy things, making it Better (FACT).

The answer to that is also, generally speaking, no.

If this sort of topic interests you, I suggest you look up Derek Parfit. He came up with this thought experiment in 1984, and his work on it is pretty darn good.

Since when does the word "shoot" mean with a lethal gun? You can shoot someone with a paintball gun, and they aren't legally dead.

I'm not gonna bother to read any other attempts of science because I would facepalm too hard.

hmmm, maybe you're not going to read anymore b/c your not intellectually inept enough to understand anything said, when did anyone say "shoot" like the way your thinking, when he or i say shoot we mean shoot the person to another location, like a cannon, but in microscopic pieces. maybe it's the fact that you didn't bother to read further, but you're totally off base here so thank you for not reading anything else other wise you may have made yourself look like a bigger a**

Well, with current laws, it'd be akin to suicide or some sort, and since assisted suicide is illegal, there'd be a lot of legal issues.

I think you mean "intellectually ADEPT". Also, the subsequent clause requires "but" before the "when", and a question mark after "thinking".

I got your back bro.

teleportation already exists, the problem is that it doesn´t take one thing to another place, it just duplicates (or something like that), I´m not sure what happens to the first particle that is duplicated but if it dissapears it would be murder

BTW I saw this on a show that michio kaku talked to guys about the future, he also went with someone who cloned animals and some other guys also they can only teleport things like light particles and they are VERY VERY far away from teleporting humans

No, it would not be considered murder. Not by a long shot.

Hm.. this reminds me of that one movie The Prestige. Great movie. Awesome movie. Go see it. Now. Once you reach the end you'll see why Wonka Vision reminds me of this movie. Go see it.

What if it literally vaporized you in an instant, and cloned you perfectly in another location? You'd have the exact same brain, memories, thoughts as you did at the instant before you got vaporized, so you would feel no different than if you had simply walked there instantly. Would that be wrong? Would you mind?

No, it's just nonsense. It makes no grammatical or logical sense. Claiming otherwise just further underlines your abysmal grasp of the rules of the English language.

I tried to simply point out your error, but you insist on compounding your stupidity with yet more stupidity. Therefore I must urge you to consider that it is, in fact, you who are too stupid to contribute intelligently to the ongoing debate, rather than the person you originally decided to insult.

I believe in a soul, so I think that it is conceptually impossible for this to be the case. However many people would disagree and say that the physical body is all that counts. If that is the case, then what you suggested would be wholly unproblematic.

What do you think? It's certainly an intriguing debate (good work TC btw)

anyway, about the teleportation thing. I'd assume by the time we can actually do it there will be laws in place or they'll have some kind of special permission to do it. If they don't then i still don't think it's murder if they can figure out how to reassemble someone using only the matter that was disassembled.

I would feel uneasy about it. I think if the brain is assembled perfectly, all the neurons are in their right place firing the right way or w/e, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference. But there's still the matter of knowing that technically you're about to die, right before you enter the teleporter.

What a logical question about a truly practical issue.

The answer is, MAYBE.

Because if it was proven that are hearts stopped and bodies died mid-teleportation, and in this future religion is still an existent force, I'd not doubt it if someone with a certain book, about a certain god, would consider it blasphomy.

Otherwise.

No.
