That's an easy choice: of course. Masturbation is the way to go. And if I get bored I could shoot myself. super_mario_128immortality man. youd still be alive but in a coma

How can one survive being shot through the brain? They can't! is the answer.
[QUOTE="super_mario_128"][QUOTE="Deihjan"]Tell that to this man, then... DeihjanI thought we were talking about real people. >.> He's a real man... playing a man..who can't die.. This is a scenario.. Under two conditions:
1) All my friends and loved ones were ALSO immortal.
2) If I could end my immortality and anytime
Being immortal would mean an infinite amount of time to gather knowledge and wisdom, which to me, as nerdy as it sounds, is an even greater need for me then sex. I would also get to see how the human race progresses.... wait... on second thought... no, idoits would inheirit the world, it might be too depressing to watch all the idoits ruin humanity. I'll take the sex.
If old people are any indication, the longer you live, the less able to cope with a changing environment you become. I think it is necessary to have a finite lifespan so that people unwilling to embrace new, better ideas die out, and new people, without preconceived ideas take their place.

Just absurdly unlikely.
Just absurdly unlikely.thriteenthmonkeWell yeh, there will be exceptions obviously. You'll just have failed miserably is all. >_>
I'm willing to go celibate for religious reasons (not saying I want to but an willing) so I'll choose yes.mindstormBut would you want become immortal? You wouldn't celibate for religion, you'd celibate for your immortality. (celibate probably isn't a verb...)
Short answer - No, no matter what. I created a character called Reina Harit Beaumont, a woman in her late 20s who is forced into an immortal life and as the years pass by, she watches her parents die again and isn't allowed to save them, she has to kill her best friend to save lives and has her home destroyed around her, where she's thrown into another universe afterwards and tries to live her life, raising her daughter and trying to keep sane.
She hates being long lived, she feels pain when hurt and is worn out when she heals, she's able to die, but it takes a lot due to the way her condition was forced into her body. She's lost a husband, a lover, two of her children to mortal lifespans - her son died saving lives, her youngest daughter died from a botched medical treatment and she's terrified that she might turn out like her sister who went insane after being alive much too long and accidently killing a child while trying to other children.
The general idea of the character is that long life isn't worth it, it's more trouble than it's worth. So no, I would never want to be immortal, the price, any price, is just too much.
