My wifes family is Greek Orthodox but I never converted and they don't care and still like me. However, I live in the Mormon capital of the world and have seen so many guys convert to being Mormon so they could be with their Mormon girlfriend/wife. And there's some pretty good looking Mormon girls out there. But would you ever convert your faith or beliefs to be with someone that you were madly in love with?

Nope. If you have to change you beliefs, then you never really believed in those beliefs to begin with.

No. Having to change who you are just for someone you love is stupid. They should respect you, anyway. Otherwise, it's pointless.

While I don't understand the relevance of that sentence, my answer is no. I believe what I believe and that wouldn't change for anything. Even love.

Nope. Though that doesn't mean you can still date or whatever, as long you can respect in what she believes.

There is nothing that could emotionaly convince me what I believe is wrong. If love meant going to church, or physicaly believeing, I could bear that. But nothing could change what I feel insider, even if I desperately wanted to.

Exactly; and your parter would know that deep inside, you don't really believe in what you converted to, either.

What I mean is that Mormon girls are really nice and sincere and tend to be pretty cute. They are very easy to become attracted to and fall in love with, it's happened to me before. But then you have to believe in Joseph Smith's teachings and the Book of Mormon in order for them to go any further with you in the relationship.

Here is my opinion. You should never blindly follow your belief. Most people claim to be something (Christian, Muslim, Mormon etc) but when asked about what they actually believe, very few know. Therefore I say this, you should always be opened minded and KNOW WHAT YOU BELIEVE. If you know what you believe and understand what others believe, then this shouldn't even be a question as you should be confident with what you believe.

I hear too many people claim they are atheists. This is BS. They are too lazy to believe in something. If these Atheists would spend as much time understanding religions and the differences between the gods of each religion, we would have so much less "all gods from all religions are just the same" which is utter bull.

Sorry, small rant. Know your beliefs and you won't have any problem keeping them.

Of course not. I don't see how faith would be an issue. Unless we're married and have children, and even then, I'd allow the children the freedom to examine the opposing faiths and choose the right one for themselves, just like I had the option. (Father's Catholic, Mother was Buddhist before she converted to Catholicism).

seabiscuit8686

Im an atheist and its not because im lazy, its because religion is completely illogical. If someone can prove to me there is a god, I will worship, but blindly following just because you are told to is lame, and people should have their own minds.

And on a second note, you said atheists should take time to learn of each religion and their god, well if religion A beleives in one god, and religion B beleives in another, one would have to be right and one would have to be wrong correct? there can only be one god is what these religions say, other then polytheistic religions. So whats to say your god is more realistic then someone elses, its all a big crock

One of my best friends just got engaged (At the age of 20, which I think is too young...but thats a different story) and converted to Lutheranism to make his new fiance happy. I think its crazy. If she really wanted to be with him, his religion shouldn't matter to her. I called him before and the first thing he said was "Hey! I'm a Lutheran now!" I'm sure that will please his Jewish family.

Never. I could easily accept anyone for who they are but would never convert to their religion just to be with them, even if it is only lip service. I hold religion in high regard and have an incredible respect for it even though I am agnostic. Of course, I've never been in that kind of situation so I wouldn't know how I would go about solving the issue.

No. I attempted to become religious for someone I loved, and it simply didn't work. It would not be that I wouldn't DESIRE to change for a special loved one, but that I know it is impossible. I have a personality that is innately suited to the beliefs of the skeptical agnostic, and no amount of prodding is going to change that fact.

No, No way, Never. I have too much respect for my religion to just throw it away for someone if she doesn't like that I stay with my religion thats too damn bad.

Nope. I am a Christian but I had a Muslim friend that I found attractive and I liked her a bit, but I hold strongly to my beliefs and I am sure she does the same so it would go nowhere b/c I would end up trying to convert her and she would to me. It's just awkward.
