Less guns do make a country have less crime rate. Take a look at Canada and Australia. I'm sure everyone in Canada and Australia is just getting shot by all those criminals with guns.

I personally am not a gun person, but I would always like to have one for safety, but I always like a woman who likes guns. Don't ask me why. :|

Yes, to answer your question, I would turn my guns in. Besides, I prefer knives.

I wouldn't even if it would make the US safer, but it doesn't make places safer, take the UK for example gun crimes double with the ban on almost all guns.

I wouldn't even if it would make the US safer, but it doesn't make places safer, take the UK for example gun crimes double with the ban on almost all guns.

We don't have much gun crime at all, actually.

A gun is a tool. The use of the tool is determined by the type of person using it.

The removal of guns from the public is a submission to absolute authority to the governments Military. There is no reason for this.

Our government is largely unalterable when it comes to change for the better-once our lawmakers leave the straight and narrow path, never shall they return from the hedonistic pleasures of the new ground they cover.

That leaves the right of abolition of government, which needs firearms.

I would. Luckily i live in Canada so guns are already banned. And anyone remember that thing that happenend in Texas where some guy shot a robber that was unarmed and killed him. That is why guns should not be legal. Average citizens aren't trained police officers and don't know when and when not to use a gun for self defense.

No that has nothing to do with it. Our domestic social economic policies need to be better. better education, more access to opportunities for jobs...etc. It also starts with individual familes and what they want for their childrens future. I grew up in a rural area where most families had one or more fire arms. There is almost zero gun or violent crime where I lived. In the inner city there is a lot more crime, but its not because guns. Even if guns were illegal, there would still be guns smuggled into criminal hands, and crimes would still happen with knives or other weapons. Remeber that poor guy who got his head cut off on that Canadian bus?

I, for one, would continue to exercise the right, even if it were highly illegal to do so. And, if it were highly illegal to do so, it would be an indication that the government was scared of its people, and the government that is scared of its people is a government that is not serving its people, and a government that is not serving its people should be abolished.

I think that a situation in which we have a government that intends to completely take away certain constitutional rights is exactly the kind of situation that the right to bear arms was put in the constitution for.

How would it make the US safer if I gave up my guns? That's stupid. I'm no criminal, I shouldn't have to give up my freedoms for the fools that are. Plus, they may come in handy someday, and the first step towards becoming a totalitarian nation is taking away the populace's arms.

Essentially you're saying that I should sacrifice my right, because of a select few individuals. Switzerland is a good example of this, 1/3 of the population owns guns, yet the crime rate is ridiculously low. Perhaps the people there have a greater sense of responsibility, something that I guess some people don't want to bear. A lot of gun crime is also related to drugs, which are already "illegal," so what makes you think a drug dealer is going to give up his arms?

Hell no, if my country was invaded I would want to fight the enemy to the death for trying to get into my hometown. And a gun is the best option. And now banning guns doesn't solve anything. It will just make people want to own a gun more than anything.

might actualy have something to do with the fact that most of the guns are in people possesion when they join the military and they get the ammo in a sealed box that is regulary checked and you get into a lot of trouble if you open it. iirc they even stoped givin out the ammo after an incedent.

We don't have much gun crime at all, actually.

Now you may not, but a study done in the lates 90's. The UK banned weapons and the crime rate quadrupled that same year. Um its pretty obvious, criminals now know that they wont get shot at if they rampage a house

How about Canada then the culture is identical. The funny thing is in my cousin's city(Windsor) there was 3 murders involving guns last year. 2 were involved with a man from Detroit and the other was local.
