The Crusades weren't actually about religion.....the two sides just happened to be different religions.[QUOTE="btaylor2404"]No, I will not fight for any religion.LJS9502_basic
Not entirely true. They were fighting over the holy land, and they used religion as an excuse to fight and to get "volunteers". Remember "God wills it!"?
The Crusades weren't actually about religion.....the two sides just happened to be different religions. We'll have to slightly disagree here. Yes there were too many knights running around causing trouble, but the Pope mandated all Christians that were able to go.[QUOTE="btaylor2404"]No, I will not fight for any religion.LJS9502_basic

I doubt I'd have had much choice in the matter. . .

ya even today with Judaism religion is just a propaganda tool to get people to fight for the leaders.[QUOTE="Guppy507"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]The Crusades weren't actually about religion.....the two sides just happened to be different religions.

Remember when that Israeli sniper school was given shirts at graduation with pregnent palastinian women in sniper cross hairs saying "1 bulelt 2 lives on it" as a example? There is clearly some extremist element in there, I wouldn't say its widescale though so I do agree with you.[QUOTE="dnuggs40"] What? Actually...nevermind...I don't want to know.dnuggs40

Thats the kind of BS that happens when you have a nationalist government. No double standards people! The Israeli government should be held accountable when they act like bullies.[QUOTE="dnuggs40"] What? Actually...nevermind...I don't want to know.dnuggs40

Yeah, sadly there are extremists in every society/political movement/ect. Although if my memory serves me correctly those shirts were not given by the school, but by a private party. Either way it's obviously sick and twisted. I am glad we agree on the broader subject though.
*edit*
I was correct, those shirts were not military issued:

Only to get screwed over at the last minute by a glitch? No I'd be an assassin and kill both sides 8)...

On what side? I wouldn't have a choice on the Christian side, if I didn't go I would be labelled a "heretic" and probably be burned at the stake. I highly doubt I'd have a choice on the Muslim side, due to a cultural motivation to defend the holy land.
I personally, if given my current view on everything, would not choose to fight on either side... for the mere reason that it was a war of religion. Though, I might side with the Hashshashin, if Assassin's Creed were true.

What about an offensive war in the name of nationalism?
Yes, tha's a totally different question. I would defend my counfry. But what if your nation wouldnt tolerate different religions and would massacre them, would you still fight for them?[QUOTE="btaylor2404"][QUOTE="majwill24"]Yes, tha's a totally different question. Of course not. You can what if all day. WWII can be looked at from that viewpoint for many countries. To be clear, I would defend my country if it was attacked or our way of life was threatened. Hasn't happened (9/11 excluded, and it was handled wrong) since WWII.
Assuming I'm even given the choice, no. It was one big land dispute that they attempted to justify in the name of God.
I would've but then I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it since I would've been one of the peasants who made up most of the fighting force to be butchered by the nobility on both sides.
[QUOTE="bobaban"]which kings? King DiamondSeeing as I'm descended from kings I would have been the one ordering all you around :)
