Yes, wouldn't be able to join the military anyways and I live in the USA so I am safe.

Surviving a war would be completely out of my hands. I could lessen the chance through training and other means, but a lot is based on luck and just one instance of bad luck's enough. That said, I think war would break me mentally very quickly. Seeing people torn apart, killing others, seeing immense suffering and misery on a daily basis. Yea.....no. I would probably lose it upstairs and end up a suicide. If I had to guess anyway. If there's one thing I'm very grateful for, it's that I've never had to know what war truly is like. I can do without seeing mankind's ugliest side. MirkoS77Lucky for you, you can pretty much tell them you're suicidal and they will kick you out. During the height of the war in Iraq claiming to be suicidal, claiming to be gay (DADT wasn't repealed yet), and beating your wife (the Launtenberg Amendment made you ineligible to use firearms, making you useless to the military) were three of the biggest ways out of a deployment.
I probably would and have. Being in meteorology, I stayed around airfields or with brigade most of the time. I'd definitely survive unless the airfield is nuked.
An exception would be Korea. I used to be on loan to the army and was stationed near the DMZ. The first thing I was briefed on was, if NKorea invaded, forget it. Most likely, the North Koreans would emerge from tunnels behind the lines and start shooting us from behind.
No, only reason I would join the army anyway would be in the case life totally didn't go my way and I lost all reason to live so I would join to die faster and so I die with a bit of honor and go down fighting.metroidprime55And if you mention that while you are enlisting they would disqualify you for suicidal tendencies. When you're at war it's not just about you, if you get killed while being suicidal other troops will be at risk because they have to pull your dead body out of the area.
I would do everything possible to NOT get drafted and if all that failed then I would just hide behind cover at each fight. If we win I'd go celebrate if we lose I'd run away and hope that I wouldn't get shot.Moriarity_The hell? People like you are so useless. Hide in a corner? The people there with you are fighting for survival too. Its your responsibility to fight back, not for your country but for yourself and the others there drafted without a choice. What you just said was so cowardly...
You have to be in shape
You must have proper training and gear
You must follow orders
You must have a hard heart
You must be lucky and if that fails take as many of the enemy with you as possible.

Celebrating wouldn't be an option for them if they win, since he would be getting court-martialed for cowardice if he survives.
The funny thing is a lot of kids today don't realize how easy it would be to get out of the draft if it came back. Only one in four men and women between 17 and 24 are even eligible to enlist if they wanted to under current standards in the US military.
For that one in four that is eligible, they can easily make themselves ineligible by eating themselves to obesity so they're too fat to be drafted. Or they could get married, "beat" their wife, and turn themselves in so they are no longer legally allowed to touch a firearm due to the Launtenberg Amendment. Or several other things they can easily Google.
From what I've been told by a Vietnam War veteran is that war is mostly luck.
Many of the time it doesn't matter how fit you are or skilled one is (although they do benefit you on the battlefield), sometimes even the best soldiers die first...
I could. I got a survival plan for if the country gets attacked. Just going to grab food, survival gear, guns and ammo and hide in the mountains. If resources permit id probably mount a guerilla campaign, on my own if i had to.
so red dawn basically
I survived a war in a basement with no light. A shrapnel melted my window once and set my closet to fire. A grenade hit a piece of my house but no one was injured. I drove a car 65 mph on local roads when city alert went on. I went to work every single day, hoping I come home safe!
So, yeah...I'd survive another day, just to contribute to this world, as little as I can.
I have thoroughly thought about this and I believe I would have the courage to fight and part of me would probably enjoy it. As far as surviving in war the dying part is usually decided by chance.
Mentally, yes. Already went through PTSD and child abuse, so I could use that as a tool.
Physically, no.
