So I just moved back to a place that I have lived for 7 years. My family got sick of it, so we moved North for a year. Now I'm back and it's scary how bad this place is. For example.................. one kid I knew pretty well stabbed a kid, and killed him. Now he's in jail for at least 20 years. One of my best friends sells drugs on a street corner................ everyone else are on pretty hardcore drugs. Looking back on what I just typed, it makes me seem like I'm some gangster in Compton, but I'm the complete opposite!!! Is your area where you live like this?

I live in a relatively safe area of downtown Toronto. The funny thing is I actually live next door to a crack house, but I've never had any problems with them before and I've lived in this area for four years.

St. Louis has the worst crime rates in the country, according to some analyses. I live on the border between a "good" area and a "bad" area. There are many police around, but that hasn't stopped people from being robbed, mugged, and even raped within a couple blocks of my location over the last year.

My home city is Orlando, but I was too young to remember much. This place in the Southeast 'States is pretty much the same as it's been since I understood what went on; gangs, drugs, honeys, bros, imitators, true wayers, the whole nine yards.

I live in Boise, crime isnt that bad here, in Nampa(about 15miles away) it is though, mostly due to the fact it has a huge illegal immgrant population.

I live in a...ok area.  There is the occasional chav that throws coins at you and stops you in the street starting a fight, but rarely something serious happens like murder or rape.

Not really that bad, the worst I can recall is a racist murder. But the rest is house breakins, and some firework trouble, that's about it. Not really alot of violent stuff around here.

I used to live in the two block area smack dab between two projects, I know what you are talking about.

As of now, me and my family live pretty far away from the area, its seems like a different world here even though its in the same city. Everyone here is either Creolean or French or Latino or Asian, and nothing ever happens here.

I don't live in a bad neighborhood or anything but there is some seriously messed up stuff going on. I came back home from college for a week before summer semester started and I have never been so depressed. Drugs have completely taken over everyone who didn't get out when they could. Some of my old high school friends lives are pretty much trainwrecks, apparently crack and meth have taken over here, I just want to leave here and never look back.

Where I live isnt exactly perfect either. Some guy got stabbed about 30 seconds from my house, and my next door neighbour has had his car window smashed in and my car has had its front bumper kicked to pieces.

I live in a decent sized town in Indiana but we have a very low crime rate. The only real problem we have here are the occasional meth addicts and wanna-be gangsters vandalizing stuff. I guess I'm lucky to live in such a safe town.

I live in the CA Bay Area. We have moderate crime rates in our area. Our cities are pretty standard as far as crime rates go. They aren't terribly high, but they aren't exactly the safest places to be in the world, either. San Jose is one rough, rough area. :(

Despite this, I can't imagine Britian as a more dangerous place to live than the US. Perhaps its the population ratio to crime ratio? :?

I know how you feel sort of. I go to college in a relatively ok town. Nothing to write home about, but not crime central either. However, my hometown is ridiculous. I just found out the other day that this girl I know got shot SEVEN times in the back...it's nuts

It's hard to tell. At home, I think things aren't great, but could be worse. There have been a few rapes over the years (including one serial rapist....) but nothing like that's happened for a while. Usual chavvy vandalism and fights, but not as bad as it could be.

M university town feels much safer. There are some dodgy areas that are best to avoid. But in general, I feel fairly safe walking home alone at 2am. It's nice. There was a flasher at one point, but he wasn't harmful, just creepy....

In my town, violent crime doesn't exist. The only thing people ever get in trouble for is DUI. Some housekeeper (who doesn't live in this town) got murdered by her drugged out husband or something a few years ago, but other than that this town hasn't seen a homicide in decades. The biggest threat to the community around here is high school kids who smash mailboxes or steal beer from people's garages from time to time.

Crime is very low where I live.  Certainly some people get into trouble, but it's uncommon and they are usually doing high risk behavior.

I live in a very sketchy neighborhood (lots of homeless, many bars and too many tweakers), but for the most part I feel safe, as I've lived in much worse neighborhoods than this before. Keeping your head down goes a long way to staying out of trouble.

my town is okay, the teens are all snobs and pricks, the tyks are tykes (annoying and such), then the old fogeys are going like 5 mph on a 40 mph road, and everyone thinks sex, drugs and starbucks are the coolest thing ever, actually it's really just the people. sorry about your friends imprisonment... 20 years...

St. Louis has the worst crime rates in the country, according to some analyses. I live on the border between a "good" area and a "bad" area. There are many police around, but that hasn't stopped people from being robbed, mugged, and even raped within a couple blocks of my location over the last year. Elraptor

raped?!?!?!

Yes, someone broke into a young woman's apartment and sexually assaulted her last year, just a block away from my apartment building. I believe it was in university housing, too. Fortunately, my apartment building is fairly secure. You have to use a key card when entering the lobby, basement, stairwells (from the ground floor), and elevators . . . and then there are additional locks on each tenant's door, of course.

Although rape is bad enough, there have also been a number of muggings and burglaries. One guy was carjacked at an intersection, too. No one's been murdered close by, though.

The worst city is usually Camden, NJ which is located right across the Delaware river from Philadelphia.  It may have dropped a little in the rankings, but it usually is the #1 worst place in the country.

I've lived in Europe, USA and Canada. Out of all the places I could have been robbed it was Canada which kind of surprised me. I lived pretty close to Ottawa and it always seemed like a easy going place but the drugs were pretty popular (not as in cool but just many people did them).

I live in one of the surrounding suburbs of a somewhat dangerous city (Toledo, OH).
