its like, after they see one of those 'be a game tester' commercials, its their dream job. its misleading bs. theres this guy that sits by me in math, and almost every day he talks about how hes gonna become rich by playing video games all day. bs, theres no way youll become rich by being a game tester. my uncle started as a game tester for pandemic and he said he was paid like $30k a year. this kid thinks that if he get hired, works nonstop every day, hell have a million dollars by the end of a year. just made me lol when he said that. whats even worse, he thinks that what hell do is clock in, play game for hours, clock out, and eventually hell get paid. lol, nobody will pay you to do virtually nothing but take up space. my uncle (same one) said that as a game tester, he played an incomplete build of the game (looks like **** i imagine) and not only did he have to look for bugs, he had to look for it in the code, document it, and every so often hed send his notes to the devs. devs fix it, improve the build, and evertually they have the full game. also, to be a game tester, you need a real education. typically comp programming as your major and art as your minor. this kid wants to just walk into the office of a game studio, and expects that they will hand him some games and he will be paid for playing them. thats never gonna happen, without an education. and even then, the job market there is flooded, so i really dont see why people want that job. does anyone else think theyre just ill informed? be you one of them?
