Yeah, I was expecting quite a few moderations for a lot of people--including myself--in that thread. My rage meter was high. Too bad I missed the fun part.dreDREb13

It's definitely a worthy offense and it's why he was banned. There's generally no returning from an account suicide.

Scroll down and you can see where super_mario_128 and I talked to him right before he was banned. It looked liked those other users just got the better of him, and they came close to me to, had I not left.

You're right. There's usually no excuse. But when I hear one person talk about something that effects the rights and well-beings of others, and knowing that the majority of people have the same view, I guess I kind of feel like I'm talking to all the people, through this person. It's really new for me on the gay marriage debate, since a family member came out and told me he was gay It's made me feel different about debating the issue. I've become more passionate on the subject. It really caught me by surprise.

Just a quick thought, but wanted to state it...

The sort of discussion currently taking place in this particular ban thread about what happened, why, and the general worthiness of the action leading to the banning is exactly what I was really hoping for with my idea of being more transparent around why users do or do not get banned. When you have a frequent contributor to our site banned, it is often (not always) a sad time for the community as a whole when that person gets banned and we are all worse off. If others can benefit and be better able to avoid the same fate going forward, then the loss is mitigated somewhat.nocoolnamejim

I would say something if I see certain user appear to be "losting it"... injecting some senses into the debate should help, if they choose to pay me any attention :P
