Anyway, Black Sabbath does belong on top. They invented metal. And Pantera deserves a spot in there too, Metallica as well. But where's the Megadeth? Anthrax? Why put Rush? Why Jimi? Might as well put Dethklok!

Slipknot would be rather fitting on that list considering it's mostly a crap list (with a few notable exceptions), so I guess in a way, you have a point.

its pretty easy for me to classify what is metal and what isnt, all i need to do is play a song with my parents around and if they say " WTF IS THIS SH!T " within 30 seconds, its metal ^_^ ^_^

That list is rather erroneous. When it comes to metal, it's practically futile and ultimately stupid to bother making a list in regards to anything. That's not what the genre is about, and it will never amount to such a thing.

Rush are at times borderline metal.

Well I'm talking about their older stuff-- Specifically Waking the Fallen. Was that not metal at all? Sorry for being a noob to this stuff I guess, haha =P

Their older stuff is rather disputed in terms of what genre it actually is, and it seems as though it would be an unusual mix of metal core and traditional heavy metal. Though when we're talking about their newer stuff like City of Evil, then that's just flat-out metalcore. Though when it comes right down to it, they're not usually considered metal.

Ummm i dont know anything about music then... I thought their Metalcore stuff was their old stuff, waking the fallen and sounding the seventh trumpet, and the genreless stuff was their new album, city of evil was just hard rock for me... :|

are you saying just because metallica created thrash they automaticly desirve to be #1? i am of the feeling that just because someone started something or is a huge influence, does not mean they are the best or should be recognised as the best, i like black sab, but i do not think they are bttr than metallica or maiden, but a lot of people bow to them for creating metal, sure thats great, they started it, that dosnt mean they need to be the top of the list, eddie van halen created tapping, but that dosnt make him the best tapper or guitarist, altho in my book he is right up there :P

No, Iron Maiden and Priest shouldn't be beating out too many bands and putting them ahead of Metallica is a joke.

Metallica has more talented members and much better songs.

That list is just opinion. Of course, bands like Sabbath deserve to be recognized as founders, but the list is inaccurate as it includes bands like ACDC, Robin Trowers...and a bunch of other stuff that is nowhere near metal. Kiss?!! Gimmee a break! They were bubblegum crap-pop rock made for teenage girls.

That list is ridiculous, by and large.

ya maybe only 8 or so bands on there could even be considered metal in the 1st place:judas priest, metallica, and guns N roses

but aerosmith, led zepplin, JIMI HENDRIX!!!??? how in God's name are they metal...they are the deffinition of classic rock
