AirGuitarist87
I don't get it. :?So, um, has anyone lost yet? I've never been a fan of Calvin. I'm more of a B.C. person.
mysterylobster
It's a biblical joke, it ain't funny though. In fact it sucks, as with most Christian jokes. Not saying christians can't be funny though ofc :P
Linked for teh huge, but it made me lol.
Witchsight
Hahahaha, I remember that one.
But when I first read it I was pretty young, so it made me sad :(
I know that it's about Jesus (knowing BC, that's a given :P), but I don't see what's funny.
My guess is that the character is completely oblivious to what that cave means, he just sees it as a new place to live, combined with how long it took me to figure out. It just hit me and I was like:lol:.
I think he knows exactly what the empty cave means. His reaction is priceless and makes me laugh every time. Of course it also has a deep spiritual meaning, as well. I don't get it. What does the cave mean? It's just a cave :?[QUOTE="smokingsbad"]/snip >:(Holden14This one really depresses me. Stupid pills ruining kid's fun! You guys know thats not an actual comic, just a fan made one right? Still its really sad.

It's the cave Jesus was placed, or buried in or whatever, 40 days later he gets out and goes to heaven and what not.
Jesus was placed in a cave? :o I thought he was resurrected in 3 days? lulz Old Mythology is so weird. It's the cave Jesus was placed, or buried in or whatever, 40 days later he gets out and goes to heaven and what not.

Oh yeah, might have been 3 days, seems way more likely. I wonder what the 40 days are for then.

Well, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights or something. That's the Noah bit, is there still some ceremony or ritual surrounding that?[QUOTE="Dark-Sithious"]Oh yeah, might have been 3 days, seems way more likely. After he resurrected from the dead he stayed upon the earth for 40 days before ascending into heaven.
It is entirely possible for there to be a connection between the 40 days of rain and 40 days of Jesus walking on the earth after his resurrection.
After he resurrected from the dead he stayed upon the earth for 40 days before ascending into heaven.mindstormWhy... ? Once he ascended, wouldn't he just be omnipresent anyway? Was he shirking his duties?

Personally, I always thought B.C. was alright, but not nearly as good as Calvin and Hobbes. And, I didn't think that the one posted by Mysterylobster was funny at all.
Personally, I always loved Calvin's dad's explanations of things :D.

Was he shirking his duties? Jesus isn't omnipresent but is sitting on the throne in heaven. God is the one who is omnipresent. And yes, Jesus is God... *mind explodes from trying to comprehend the trinity*
I'm now way off topic... And because of that, here:

God: If you get it, I will have gotten it myself... *mind asplodes*
Finally, it's interesting to see people who take fault with christians trying to explain the basis of christianity. effthatI hope that wasn't directed at me.
[QUOTE="effthat"]Finally, it's interesting to see people who take fault with christians trying to explain the basis of christianity. JandurinI hope that wasn't directed at me. General statement. There is just as much room for ignorance amongst athiests and nihilists and there are for Christians, Jews, and Muslims. I know in the end there are a few bad apples on each side giving the rest a bad name.
 I lost.Hard. I love how C & H points out the raw truth in everything. Finally, a YLYL everyone can get behind. :P

I don't get how these are funny? :( Try make me laugh.CBR600-RRfor me calvin and hobbes usually isn't "laugh out loud" funny.

Only in OT does a YLYL turn into a religious discussion. I guess I'm to blame for that. I was only trying to inject some funny into this thread. Someone please post that picture of Xzibit saying "hey dawg I herd you like cars" so we can get this YLYL back on track.Xzibit saying "hey dawg I herd you like cars"mysterylobsterI have no idea who that is or what his deal is, but I'm glad I looked it up. put a car in your car so you can drive while you drive. lol

Hobbes was named after Thomas Hobbes. I learned about him before I learned about John Calvin.I seem to have made an interesting discovery:
We knew Calcin was a philosopher but Hobbes too?whatsit2ya
