Nothing at the moment, got sidetracked by a couple of unforeseen events. So until I settle down and go back to my old routine, I decided to review Socialism utopian and scientific by Engels.

I would rather be repeatedly smacked on the head with a hardcover textbook.

Evidently, you and I do not share the same reading interests and intrigues as I believe this is the second time you come up with an excruciating metaphor depicting your strong disagreement with my reading choices.

The History of Political Ideas by Sven Eric Liedman. pretty good read.

Do you have it in hard copy or a pdf/epub?

hard copy, why? couldn't find anywhere in the net?

I did some googling and I had no luck finding the book in e-format. It always pisses me off when a book peeks my interest just to be unable to find it as an e-book as this is the only option available to me.

@Storm_Marine: Interesting you say that. I found it quite good -- and quite terrifying. At the same time, I was advised to skip a lot of the Johnny Truant nonsense and just stick to the Navidson Record. That made the experience a lot better.

Maybe it gets better. I didn't make it that make it that far to say the least.

Ahh! Yeah, you missed some good stuff. It's a slow crawl for the first 100 pages, but it starts really picking up (and getting really fucking scary) after that. The last 100 pages or so will mess you up, man...

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, absolutely love it. Before then it was At the Mountains Of Madness by Lovecraft and Krampus: The Yule Lord by Gerald Brom.

I'm finally getting around to reading Snowcrash after having numerous people recommend it to me over the years. Can't wait to dive in!

1. The Lord of the Rings - I started reading it last summer, to mark the tenth anniversary of the year in which I read the Two Towers and the Return of the King for the first time. So far I've only gotten to the chapter "The Council of Elrond" in the Fellowship of the Ring.

3. Anthony Beevor "Stalingrad" - I started reading this for a WWII class in Fall 2013, haven't finished it yet.

4. Laurence Rees "WWII behind Closed Doors" - started reading that for the same class. Pretty much done now, all I have left to read of the book is the acknowledgments (which oddly are in the back of the book, not at the start) and maybe skim the notes.

King has a new book? Sheesh, I still haven't read Dr Sleep yet.

I have Dr Sleep sitting on my desk, and still haven't got around to reading it. Lately I've been reading Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy. Currently on the second one, Dark Force Rising.
