Mmm. . .no. What would you learn if I just told you?:P

Theokhoth

But you see I actually do detect some kind of moral lesson behind and I find it completely wrong. But because I'd rather be sure that this is indeed what you mean that's why I'd rather you PMed it to me.

How 'bout this: PM me what you think the moral lesson is and I'll tell you if you're right or wrong.

I will in a minute or two. :)

So it would just be dead weight, correct?

Theokhoth

Well techniclly a little walk wouldn't actually cause any muscle growth.

No, but it would cause your heart to beat at a nice rate, which in turn has its own myriad of positive effects.

Like what?

Like what?

Oxygen flow. Cleaner arteries. And so on. It's the same reason why drinking a glass of wine a day is good for you.

But the athlete's arteries will aready be very clean anyway. And 'oxygen flow' is only relevant if the athlete wants to do anything strnuous at that particular moment.

Isn't maintenance required for beneficence?

Your family is killed by people wanting your money.

In response, you build a shelter for families and save many lives.

One of the kids you saved became known as "The Second Hitler."

His son developed a cure for cancer.

This cycle of good/bad events started from your winning the lottery goes on forever.

My question to you: Was winning the lottery a good thing or a bad thing?

Theokhoth

Well.

Death of family = about 30 deaths (my mum, dad, brother cousins grandparents ect.)

The shelter = Hard to tell but probably well over a hundred. Causing it to be overall a positive thing

Second Hitler = 1-120 million deaths. Bad thing.

Cure to Cancer = Trillions of lives saved until the end of time. (Though if since some of the survivors are inevitbley going to experience more bad things than good things with their extra time it subtracts from the goodness of this event but still make an overall extremly positive event.)

Now seeing that the cure to Cancer is basically impossible to cancel out with bad events (which are then completely or partially canceled out with further good events) I have come to the conclusion that winning the lottery was almost definitely (unless one of the future bad events is ending the universe) a positive event.

[QUOTE="bluezy"]Bad. I'd have been happier before.Theokhoth

But what of all the good things that happened because of you? I mean, cure for cancer. . .

hip-hop-cola2 must say something... on the subject of not being able to cure cancer.

You're forgetting one thing. If we assume this next hitler would Initiate world war 3, it could potentially wipe humanity off the face if this planet. Why? Nukes, the world has nukes now, and lots of it.

Cure to cancer, people living longer, less people working yay :?
