Basically 9/11 for me did actually detoriate my views of America... When I saw the ways a lot of people reacted I felt confused. The way people were like "Let's nuke the entire middle east" or "I think Osama should be tortured for the rest of his life" I felt sick. In history we watched this video on Osama, about his views and how the U.S. empowered him, and I honestly felt sympathy for him. I mean, I think he had just reasons to declare his war on America.

Why shouldn't he? We did him a lot of wrong from what I understand.

As for attacking civilians and not playing "fair", isn't that how America won the revolution (by not playing fair). As for killing civilians..... Native American massacres come to mind, and then of course there is slavery.

So when people started going around throwing their American flags up I felt kind of disgusted with the country, and peoples attitudes.

That's still lingered....Hopefully I don't get questioned by the NSC or something now...LOL But that's my 9/11 story.

So what your saying a couple of ignorant americans racist and misinformed views on 9/11 accounts for everyone ?? The TC asked you for your 9/11 story not some rant about the revolutionary war ad how america mistreated the native americans.

I think americans were justified in there anger and while some take it to the extreme the majority were calm and collected on there anger of terrorist.

I was out of work and had an interview scheduled at CNN that day at 2P. I was woken up by a tearful call from my mom telling me what had happened. Understandably, a bit later I got a call from CNN asking to reschedule my interview. That evening, I went to my local watering hole and watched the news with a bunch of the regulars there.xaos

Wow a local watering hole, do you live in friggan middle earth?

I just finished breakfast when my dad was waiting in the car for my mom, and my sister, and myself. We were sort of late so my dad was ticked off. After dropping all of us off at school, he would board a train to take to New York City so he could get to his job in the second building. On the way there, he saw the building's smoke and thought he was lucky because he would have been there if we had not made him late. I was in second grade. At about 11:00, the principal of my school makes an announcement I could not make out. AT the end of the school day, my sister told me what had happened and how she called home to make sure dad was safe. I got home and watched the news and talked to my parents. This incident still affects my family today as my dad is still unemployed and it is increasingly becoming harder to get a job. I was in second grade back then.

i was in fifth grade. it was a normal school day.....we were there all day (im in CT) by the way.... my schools are run by idiots, i mean i know all kids must think that, but my town REALLY is. i was in science class (keep in mind its probably like 2:30 PM now) and my teacher gets called out. she comes back in 5 minutes and says we all have to go to an assembly in the hallway. yeah, the hallway. so the vice principal comes along and says "there has been a plane crash. when you go home your parents have to sign a sheet that a bus driver will give to them."....i raise my hand, and am called on. i say "planes crash everyday....what makes this so different." she said my parents have to tell me er somthin. so i go home at the END OF THE DAY...we didnt get out early..... my mom signs the sheet, and my aunt is here. she lives in maine so im thinkin wtf is happening?....i said mom whats going on... "planes crashed into the twin towers, and the pentagon".....and im like what, terrorists? shes like yup.....my aunt was theres cuz she was on her way to jersey for some art show she was part of, but knew there would be uber traffic, so stayed there for the night. i didnt take it seriously.....i never thaught that the rest of my childhood and adolescence would be consumed in war, corruption, witch hunts, and hate from then on.

I was 11 and in 6th grade. I was in my first or second period class when an announcement was made saying that a plane had just crashed into the second WTC. I wasn't paying attention much, and i had no clue what the WTC was, so i didnt really care. I didnt get out of school early though. I lived in Carlisle, PA btw.

I do remember a large amount of student leaving though. The teachers didnt talk about it at all though, i guess they were told not too. Maybe they didnt know much either. Anyway, the base near us became much harder to get in. They increased security a lot.

I remember my mom was saying this was a big deal, and i didnt think it was. She had a shocked look on. My friend and i then went outside to play basketball.

I was 8 years old in 3rd grade. Everything was normal in school until I saw my teacher looking out the window with tears in her eyes. I wondered what she was crying about but figured it was something personal so I just said "Meh.". So, the day went on and it was time for recess. Yay! But the monitors, who I really friggin' hated, said that we couldn't go outside. All the kids were yelling and screaming and having a fit asking "Why?!". And the monitors said the grass was wet, which we all knew wasn't true because it was beautiful outside. When we got to our classroom for indoor recess, we asked our teacher why we couldn't go outside. And she told that something terrible happened in New York City but she didn't know what, which was obviously a lie. So, day continued as normal. Usually I went to an after school program because my parents weren't home but we were told that all after school programs were cancelled. So, I went home on the bus and of course, everyone on the bus was wondering what had happened. I remember one kid saying something along the lines that "a lot of cars were crashing in New York City"...:|. When I got home, my dad was there because he came home from work early and he told me what had happened. It didn't really phase me because of how young I was. I look back at it now and I wonder why the hell we were not sent home early, especially since I live 30 minutes from New York City.

I also remembered that we were getting new windows put in our living room that day. And one of the men who was putting them in was also a firefighter in New York City. And he had to watch as the second building collapse with some of his friends still inside.

I had just started my second year at college. I live in NY and was on my way to school in Brooklyn. I was taking the bus and could see the black smoke across the sky coming from Manhattan. I didn't realize what was going on until a passenger on the bus asked where the smoke in the sky was from and some lady said it was from a plane that crashed into the WTC. When I got to school (which was near the Brooklyn Bridge) I could smell the smoke coming from across the river. I went to the library still not fully aware how bad the situation was.

A few minutes later, I saw that the smoke had changed from black to white and I went downstairs where there were some tv's and saw a crowd of students, many of whom were crying and looked at the moniters and saw what was left of the WTC. I ran up to the last floor so I could peer out one of the windows across the river and saw many students had the same idea and crowded them up. I went outside to go home (all classes were cancelled) and could smell the white smoke that was wafting all around. I hung around for a bit because many of the buses were too crowded to get on. Being that the bridge was so close I saw the people that had walked across. I saw many of them covered in dust from head to toe, some had blood on them and all pretty much had a look of shock on their faces. I managed to hop on a bus a couple hours later (the driver let everyone ride for free) and got home. Turned on the tv and stayed up late watching the news broadcasts.

I was 11, and in grade 6. My teacher went out into the hall to talk to another teacher about something. We didn't know what for, but in hindsight it's obvious. We went accross the hall and my french teacher tried to explain to my grade 6 class what had just happened. I walked home, and it felt weird... there wasn't a cloud in the sky and all the planes must have been grounded already. The sky was a clear, perfect blue. I got home, found my mom, and said "You'll never guess what happened". She shooed me away from the TV saying "I know, I know, look." and the second plane hit the second tower live, while people jumped to their death before my 11 year old eyes.

This may sound like like I am being a jerk, but my 911 story isn't so emotional as most. I had been doing research on the genocide in Burma the week before and was so shocked at it and how long it had been going on for that when I saw the news of 9/11 I of course felt bad for the many people who had died on American soil, but I didn't feel as sad as most would think I should have been. Looking back on it I see it in a very different way from most. I had been almost numb to tragedy since knowking about the Burma Conflict and all the other terrible things going on in the world that I couldn't bring myself to feel as much for the 9/11 tragedy.

Even though I was young I already knew soo much about how terrible some parts of the world are that 9/11 did not really affect me. America had never really had an incident as horrible and Tragic as many places in the world that they were overcome with grief, which i totally understand seeing how you are not used to it. But when so many other tragedies happen around the world almost daily I find it hard to see 9/11 as the worst tragedy ever as I have heard others call it. I am not trying to make it seem less important or sad, I just want you guys to understand my veiw on the matter:)

Was at work in LR Arkansas, my heavyset 60 year old boss goes running down the hall to the breakroom, we all pile in there, probably 30 of us, order pizza in for lunch and watch a crappy tv all day. Went home and my wife and I discussed it with our 7 year old, and went to sleep each night that week listening to Peter Jennings. A few weeks later my wife quit her6 figure job working 70 or so hours a week running a finance company and started volunteering at our sons school across the street, she's never been back to work since, I was always involved and intrested in politics, and now she is as well. I indirectly changed our lives in our house for the better.

Nobody cares about your story unless you lost someone that day (or something similar that effected you in a deep way). Other wise stop complaining. Oh no, you woke up and heard America was under attack and your life changed forever. Get over yourself.

I was in the 8th grade. When it happened I was in the 1st hour, which was gym. All gym class I was thinking abut this chat that I was going to have later that day. I had gained a spot in a private chat with Matt Hoffman, because I was really into BMX at that time. I wish someday I could meet him and ask him about that and be "I was one of the kids who was going to chat with you that day". It ended up being cancelled because of the events, though. I still have the piece of paper that I wrote on a week earlier saying "Sept 11th. 4 P.M." and then the password for the chat.

I hadn't found out about the events until my 2nd hour, which was art. At first everyone thought a plane flew into the white house, until we started watching the news on TV. I ended up watching the news a lot during that day in school. The most ironic thing happened, too. My 7th hour class was some kind of social studies. That class offers every year a trip to Washington D.C. for the eigth graders in the summer. They weren't sure if the event was going to be cancelled at all, so ON Sept 11th I was given a packet of information for a trip to Washington D.C.

The Geneva Convention is the rule book, the doctrine of warfare. But usually our enemies don't respect nor acknowledge the Geneva convention because usually they are rebels or terrorists from rogue nations or their government has no control over them. What would be the point of presenting a legal document or any laws to a faction of outlaws. They don't care. That's why they are outlaws, they don't respect rules.

The Geneva Convention causes us more problems than our enemies. But I guess if you'er stupid enough to get caught beating captured soldiers for information you are on your own. As they say... "If you're gonna break the rules... don't get caught. And if you do get caught you're on your own."

I was 10 years old at the time, saw the footage of the first plane hitting the tower then went to school, it wasn't cancelled, had a normal school day, teachers didn't seem to bothered by it, there was no announcement that we were under attack, and thats it.

Sad but I just moved on with my day as normal. Though I laughed when the gas station across the street was forced closed for spiking there gas prices. 11.00 dollars a gallon and they didn't think they'd get caught .

And for the love of God cut your quotes down.

I went to school, then some kid said on the bus ride home that an airplane crashed into the "World Skate Center". I was like wtf? So I ask my mom, she turns on the tv, and I figure out what really happened. Then I realised people only care about "freedom" and "liberty" when their lives are in danger. It's pethetic.

had just started working like 2 week earlier ( graduated college in may '01 ) was driving to work and heard it on radio that plane hit north tower. figured it was just a small censa type plane or something. didn't think much of it. got to work and tried to get on cnn or msnbc or another news website but they were all getting hammered. my boss was able to get cnn up and they had a pic of the hole in the wtc that the 1st plane created. then they turned the news on on the tv's they have around my work building. ppl gathered around all of them watching.

I was in an American History class in 11th grade. We were just about to go to our next class when someone came in and told us we had to turn on the news. Apparently the WTC was under attack.

I really didn't care the day it happened. Everyone was so upset but I didn't react at all. Everyone around me was so pissed at the "dirty muslims" and they just wanted revenge. I didn't care...I felt that we deserved it and we had it coming.

I remember thinking that there were so many conlficting accounts that nobody really knew exactly what happened. I wanted to know how terrorists blew the towers up because I knew there was no way they fell from the Jet impacts. They came down in a perfect "building implosion" fashion so I knew there were explosives planted in the building. Especially with everyone in the street saying that they heard explosions. Even the lobby of one of the towers looked like it exploded. Then they interviewed someone on Fox News who was in the street that day and some random dude walking down the street explained the whole pancake collapse theory. I was amazed to find that the government said that's what really happened when they released the 9/11 commission (which has been admitted to be a fraud).

I still wonder what was covered up and why because it's physically impossible for what they said happened to have actually happened.

It seems like Cheney has benefitted from 9/11 more than anyone else...yay for war profiteers.

I remember, oh man, like it was yesterday.

I was in high school, and I showed up early because I was on the football team and we were reviewing films of the game before. I walk in but I see that the TV is on and I saw the towers burning. So I was essentially stunned, then just kinda watched in amazement. I dont know what else to call it.

So the rest of the day my teachers had the news turned on in all the rooms, we didnt do any work that day. I think I was in my chemistry class when the towers actually fell and I remember seeing one or two people run out because they knew people that worked either in the towers or in the area.

It was weird though...I never felt angry or sad. I just kind of accepted it.
