Ghosts are the most mysterious and their ability to distort the laws of physics and perhaps many other sciences put them in a league of their own.

Gore doesn't bug me. I can watch the ones where limbs are being hacked off no problem usually. I don't like them but they don't scare me either. I get fearful of zombies, paranormal stuff etc. I'v always been more sensitive to those movies then I wished. Though it's not neccesatily during the movie I'm freaked out. It's for weeks afterwards. And I dream vividly so ... *shiver*

Gore is gross to me. It doesn't scare me - it just grosses me out (going by some of the posts in the thread) I am a scaredy-cat when it comes to scary movies. But the ones that freak me out the most are anything kid/youth related - evil babies, evil kids, evil dolls, evil clowns, evil puppets, settings in the carnival and carnival music... ughhh

I'm cool with gore as long as it's used realistically. Movies like Saw are just plain stupid to me. I mean if it's some guy fighting for his life against a monster or something a little blood is necessary and I'm cool with that, I just don't understand the entertainment value of movies that are nothing but torture and gore. Also, I'm with you on clowns, damn do I hate clowns.

If anything turns me away from a horror movie, it's unnecessary gore. Even that though doesn't affect me much anymore. I guess I'd say anything that is realistic, or that the movie could be real.

Gore. I just can't take it really. Also twisted faces (ala Ring) really look horrendous to me. They do shock me.-eddy-

The scariest thing in a horror movie is when it's something that could be real, movies about things like mental illness are the scariest.

Ghosts/spirits, definitely. I love horror movies, but next to none of them scare me...but there's a good chance that I'll be creeped out by a horror movie with ghosts/spirits in it.

A ghost movie, done properly, will freak me out much worse than any other kind of movie. Right after that is a movie where you never see the bad guy (like John Carpenter's "The Thing"). Lastly, there's the movies where people get taken over (when I was a kid, we saw "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" in the theatre, and it still gives me screaming nightmares 30 years later).

I get freaked the hell out whenever someone is physically paralyzed/disabled and horrible things are being done to him, and all you can see is his eyes moving around helplessly. Aaaaahhhhh

Out of those, puppets, creepy **** there.

But mostly it's the ones like The Grudge where you never see it coming and something comes out of ****ing nowhwere.

I can stand gore, I don't mind it but the "HOLY ****!!!" surprising stuff I just can't handle.

Where's the option for possessed little demon kids? Seriously! Those are by far the scariest.

Seen it and it's honestly not a bad movie. I'm more on the whole Pennywise the clown being freakin' creepy.

Man, I liked IT. It was a fun movie.

I don't really know, it has to be something that could happen for me to find it scary. The movies that set a proper tone, and work off it well are usually more scary. It's been a while since a movie scared me though.
