I like Nu-Metal and KoRn's music. I prefer their earlier work though as their newest ones sound like the lack the energy they once had. :( Plus their great anger management.

I guess I'm not down with the kids and not cool enough for rap-metal.

They're not rap metal? They are a alternative rock band.

I actually bought a Linkin Park album once. They were considered nu-metal/rap-metal then.

They're more alternative than nu/rap. If you want a real nu-metal band listen to KoRn. If you want a good rap-metal band, listen to Rage Against the Machine.

I've listened to enough nu-metal to know that Linkin Park are the ones that stand out more in the nu-metal scene. They're styIe and sound is similar but at the same time quite far from the "cIassic" nu-metal styIe and sound.

just my 2 cents. :P

EDIT: besides, the term "Nu-Metal" is used nowadays more to label metal bands that came out in the late '90's - post 00's, even if they're actually NOT nu-metal.

1. Mike Patton

2. Mick Jagger (before the Stones wrote crappy disco tunes)

3. Zach De La Roach

4. Henry Rollins

5. George Corpsegrinder Fisher. Not exactly rock music per say, but Cannibal Corpse wrote songs ranging from smashing people's faces with a hammer (surely an extreme cover of Maxwell's Silver Hammer) to ejaculating blood after all...

When I think of nu-metal/rap metal I generally think of Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, etc. since those were they main big ones that all came out at the same time.

We can't all think the same way. Variety is what makes this world interesting. ;)

Now that I think about it, rap-metal is a more appropriate term for Linkin Park's earlier work. There newest work sonds nothing like nu/rap-metal though.

Its hard for me to call Linkin Park a nu-metal band. Their sound wasn't as aggressive as Korn or as douchy as Limp Bizkit; if anything LP's old sound is more like alternate rock if mixed with cliched lyrics and downtuned 7-string guitars. Thats the best I can honestly describe it

In no particular order...

Dave Mustaine: he started a band to get revenge on his old band... best motive ever. Plus, he pissed off the IRA while playing in Ireland... because playing live just wasn't tough enough.

Alice Cooper: Anyone who decapitates himself live on stage automatically gets to play the "I'm Badass" card.

Dimebag Darryl: Just listen to him play guitar. Plus, he could drink like no one else.

Jon Shaeffer (Iced Earth): He put off critical neck surgery to finish out a world tour. Even Tom Arraya (Slayer) couldn't pull that off.

Jim Morrison (The Doors): "Obscenity laws? Eh, f*** 'em."

There are some good nu-metal bands out there that are worthy of being called metal (Skindred, Maximum the Hormone, the first Deftones album, Nonpoint, etc) that are able to rely on more than just 7-string downtuned guitars and whining about trauma that would easily relate to the Hot Topic crowd.

If you only talk about their newest music, however they were definitly rap-metal when they first started. How do you explain Mike's versus on Hybrid Theory? and no, I'm not hating on them because I am a fan of their first 2 cds.

Yeah but not all their songs are the same if you listen to Shadow of the day , its no where near nu metal , Korn is nu metal tho, I think Linkin park is a mix they play mostly every genre expect pop and country lol

Thats why I said when they first started. Their first 2 cds are definitly rap metal, and then they decided that they would be "original" and play all the same poppy rock that you hear on the radio and thats when the third cd came in.

Chester Bennington? Motherf*cking LOL. Anyone who screams "I tried so hard, but in the end it doesn't even matter" in as whiney a voice as possible isn't badass. And for that matter being named Chester automatically precludes one from being a badass as well.

I'm fairly certain that Alice Cooper has never decapitated himself, in light of the fact that he's still alive. And golfing with politicians kinda takes away your right to carry the "badass" card.

[QUOTE="OrkHammer007"]Alice Cooper: Anyone who decapitates himself live on stage automatically gets to play the "I'm Badass" card.LoG-Sacrament

I'm fairly certain that Alice Cooper has never decapitated himself, in light of the fact that he's still alive. And golfing with politicians kinda takes away your right to carry the "badass" card.

thats why i think hes so hilarious. i dont care for his music or his stage antics, but i always laugh when i see him in interviews being a completely reasonable person (preferably in his makeup) :P

 I like that too. He'll be in full makeup but talking like he's your next door neighbor.

Not a big metal/rock person but some of it is incedible.

1. Eddie Van Halen

2. Cory Taylor

3. Jimi Hendrix

People will probly hate for Cory Taylor, but I got that first Slipknot album and the guy is incredible, he MADE every song on that thing. Rapping, those metal vocals, and he's a decent singer I guess too, just think he's great.

Also, I thought Axl Rose back in the day was kinda cool, not a badass, but an edgy, haters-gonna-hate kinda guy.

If you only talk about their newest music, however they were definitly rap-metal when they first started. How do you explain Mike's versus on Hybrid Theory? and no, I'm not hating on them because I am a fan of their first 2 cds.

vtbob88

Yeah but not all their songs are the same if you listen to Shadow of the day , its no where near nu metal , Korn is nu metal tho, I think Linkin park is a mix they play mostly every genre expect pop and country lol

Thats why I said when they first started. Their first 2 cds are definitly rap metal, and then they decided that they would be "original" and play all the same poppy rock that you hear on the radio and thats when the third cd came in.

Yeah but now they're just a rock band lol but i love their music no matter what idk if you're a fan or not are you?

Yes, he has. He's the guy who introduced (or, at the very least, popularized) the "musical theatre macabre" many rock acts have incorporated into their live shows.

The golfing bit must just be his camoflage, to keep people from remembering he's demonic. It apparently works. ;)

Chester Bennington is awesome but Linkin Park's albums get worse everytime they make a new one. It saddens me as Hybrid Theory and Meteora are the two reasons I got in to rock music. I know he's not what most people would consider hard-core but love Billie-Joe Armstrong
