Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal.

Hands down.

Have you re-watched it as a grown up gelfling? It hasn't aged gracefully...

I beg to differ. The Dark Crystal has aged well, it's a Jim Henson classic that I never seen any of Jim Henson's work aged badly as it may seen.

I would have to say that Lady and the Tramp, which I saw at the cinema in the early-mid 1970s, is still one of my favourite films. Close on its heels would be Sleeping Beauty. Additionally, when I sat down in the cinema to watch the original Star Wars in 1978, it left an indelible imprint because I had not seen anything quite like it before. Honourable mentions go to The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (which I saw at the cinema and sparked my interest in all of Ray Harryhausen's films), Forbidden Planet, War of the Worlds (1953), Them!, The Incredible Shrinking Man and other sci-fi 'B' movies that were all shown on the BBC during a season sometime in the 70s. Wondrous times.

I have seen it a gazillion times, I think it has aged beautifully because of the fact that it's made with puppets instead of CGI. And did you know there is a Dark Crystal series coming to Netflix soon?! So excited.

My friend and I had both recorded the audio of Star Wars and had memorized each and every line in the movie

and I have not been a SW ever sense because everything that followed the original turned out to be junk imo

Hmmmm.....well, I won't say any one of these movies is my favorite movie, I'm just putting my thoughts here to decide:

Leon The Professional (Most likely will be my choice)

James and The Giant Peach

Bugs Life

Toy Story

Twister

"Jimmy Wang Yu" Blood of the Dragon

"Jet Li's" Black Mask

Blade (1998)

The Matrix

Evil Dead 2

The Iron Giant

Nightmare Before Christmas

I watched all these movies A LOT when I was young so its really hard to decide which is my favorite. Probably will go with The Professional though...

The Sandlot. Great story of kids getting into hi-jinks while assimilating the new kid on the block interspersed with a pick-up game.

Bonus "Childhood" Movie: The Labyrinth. I use quotations because I didn't watch it as a kid;. I first saw this in my 20s, and absolutely love it. David Bowie + Jim Henson = Classic

Oh well each to their own! I liked it when I caught it at the cinema, however my fond memory was sullied when I revisited it a while back. I imagine re watching Krull would have the same effect.

Does 13-14 still count as childhood?

If so, Bloodsport with Jean Claude van Damme.

Most of what has already been posted I watched as a kid but here are some favourites.

Back to the future trilogy,

LOTR trilogy,

Die hard 1&2,

Home Alone 1&2,

Alien movies,

Jaws,

Jurassic Park.

Anything with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

As I've gotten older I've started to enjoy older movies from 50s,60s,70 and defo the 80s action.

Many, but only Star Wars UA OGT could take the crown for having the biggest impact on my youth. I'll forever cherish those films.

That used to be my favourite animated movie, though I was just past childhood when I watched it (in my early teens).

@poptart: It hasn't aged gracefully? I bought the blu ray a few months ago, the movie is still amazing and looks better then ever! They did a great job cleaning it up for the hd release.

Do you mean favorite movie I had during my childhood? Because then Star Wars. Favorite movie during my childhood that came out during my childhood? Because then Toy Story. Favorite movie right now that I watched during my childhood? Probably Ghostbusters. I really didn't watch almost any good movies at all before I got into my teens. Favorite movie right now that came out during my childhood? There are almost too many to mention. Gangs of New York, A Beautiful Mind, The Royal Tenenbaums, Amelie, Memento, High Fidelity, The Matrix, American Beauty. The list could go on.
