I absolutely love the soundtrack to Into The Wild. Eddie Vedder, in my opinion, really outdid himself with the music. It is one of the most emotional and beautiful soundtracks I have heard.

I would say he weas at his best during the late 70's and early 80's.Forest Gump and Donnie Darko's soundtracks are pretty awesome. Also, the soundtrack from LOTR is quite amazing.

I would say he weas at his best during the late 70's and early 80's.I agree. Not Just Star Wars either, I would say that he was at the apex of his career in the early 80's.
Hmmm...... probably Watchmen. Its got really good individual pieces. In movie though, sometimes some tracks just play in the wrong scenes.
And while it may be really far from release, i am really liking the soundtrack from the recent star trek trailer:

Also: The Batman Begins Soundtrack. That one is pretty damn epic.
I'm giving this no thought, but the first thing that pops to mind is Goodfellas. I mean, Shineshine of Your Love, Layla, Gimme Shelter, Magic Bus (live), Atlantis, and What is Life is enough to make it awesome. I especially love the way Scorsese incorporates the music into the movie.
Oh yeah Kill Bill was a great soundtrack!I love Kill Bill, but Pan's Labyrinth manages a close second.

Any movie by Wes Anderson has a great soundtrack. I can't choose between any of his movies, as to which one may be the best...all of them basically comprise all of my favorite music.
Two of my favorite film soundtracks also happens to translate very well as a symphonic recording.
Conan the Barbarian by Basil Poledouris
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Complete Symphonic Recording by Howard Shore.
Both could be turned into symphonies and played live and would sound as well if not better.
Jurassic Park. I like John Williams (I think that's his name) orchestra, better than all those classic symphonies.magicalclick
I find the JP main theme to be as memorable as Jaws.
Hmm, these are my favorite film soundtracks:
Blade Runner
Terminator
Return of the Jedi
28 Days Later
Pan's Labyrinth
This Is England
