Your favourite battle scene in a movie?

Normandy in Saving Private Ryan. The first time I saw that, my jaw hit the ground and I finally got somewhat of a glimps as to what those soldiers went through. Powerful scene.

Although no one will agree with me or will probably laugh at this, I really enjoyed the final battle in Freddy Vs Jason except the girl at the end ruined it. I don't care though, still love the fight.

If it's not the Luke vs Vader one that the topic maker linked then it's the "Get away from her you ****!" from Aliens. I remember when I saw that scene watching the movie for the first time, I didn't see it coming and was only like, 10 at the time, great way to finish it and just added to that warrior chick thing that Ripley pulled off that no other female protagonist has ever managed to do.

Battle of the Pellenor Fields. Some of the most badass epic stuff I have ever seen in my life. Hordes of rampaging orcs, giant ass trolls smashing people to bits, damn huge flying serpents swooping down from over the walls, and enourmous pants-crappingly terrifying war elephants absolutely obliterating everything that gets in their path. That battle was full of so many "HOLY ****" moments that I couldn't even count them.

The second battle in Aliens. Part of this was largely due to the lead up to the battle, and the brilliant way that the marines realized that they were already surrounded by Aliens crawling around in the ceiling and under the floors. This battle started abruptly, was quick and brutal and intense, and then the classic action movie score kicked in and the rest of the battle was just pure 100% badassness.

The Smith Battle from Matirx Reloaded

and The Battle of Helm's Deep from the Two Towers.

Some of the battles from Kingdom of Heaven were pretty good.

You know, I WANTED to love the Smith Battle so much, but I just couldn't. Not because it wasn't well-done, but the CGI just ruined it for me. More specifically, it starts with just the actors doing choreographed moves, which was cool. But then you can actually pinpoint the exact moment where the whole scene becomes CGI, and the transition was just too abrupt and jarring. They should have either made the entire battle completely CGI, or not have included a single CGI character. Once I was able to pinpoint the exact moment when the battle turned into a cartoon, the filmmakers lost me.

The final battle in Master and Commander is one of my favorites

That's just really an all around underrated movie. That whole movie was truly great and awesome, and it's a shame that so few people realize this.
