Don't really read books too often, but I really loved World War Z. Best zombie anything imo.SeraphimGoddess
I second this, i can't wait for the movie whihc will hopefully be amazing :)
Just to add something new to the topic as well, day by day armageddon is an amazing zombie book.
Hands down, World War Z.

From what I've heard the movie is pretty firmly entrenched in the development hell stage, sadly. :( Though I have to admit my reluctance to see it in a movie format.i can't wait for the movie whihc will hopefully be amazing :)

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchetttestfactor888Good choice. For me it would have to be Silence of the Lambs and To Kill A Mocking Bird.
ive had the same favourite book now for nearly 8 years (since i started reading :)) Legend - David Gemmell, great heroic fantasy author pity he didnt get more recognition before he died RIP.
Not Necessarily one book, but a whole book series, and that book series is a Song of Ice and Fire. This is the first book, A Game of Thrones...
I cannot wait for the HBO series, from the behind the scenes that came on last night and the latest trailer it looks amazingly good!
What is so special about World War Z that it makes non-readers interested in books? It takes up half the responses in any "favorite books" thread.
For me, it's one of these (out of all fiction). They all have special qualities of awesomeness.
(cheating a bit with those last two, they're compilations)
yep, this or Lord of the Rings (I consider it one long book) Tolkien is my favorite author hands down.I have to say The Hobbit, I think it's the best story ever told, honestly. It's 10/10 gold.

Books of Blood by Cliver Barker. People who read books would of read it already, otherwise they should be playing Halo on Xbox live untiltheir mommys made their tea.
My top 5 favorite stories in decending order from the books would be
5) The Yattering and Jack
4) Rawhead Rex
3) In the Hills, the cities.
2) How Spoilers Bleed
1) Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testemament
But then I like all the stories of that book, especially the very short story about a man who tries to build his own Hell on Earth.
These are my current favorite series: Warriors, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Left Behind, and The Inheritance Cycle(consisting of Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr)
My favorite non-seriesed book probably is Stephen King's Under the Dome, Firestarter and Howling Moon
- Harry Potter (obviously)
- "The House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer
- "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac
- "Candide" by Voltaire
- "Behold a Pale Horse" by Milton William Cooper
In spirit of my sig I guess I'll say A Storm of Swords part 1 and 2. Certainly the best fantasy book I've read.
Oh yes, here are the covers (the British ones mind you, not the sucky American ones);
Anyway, I could rant about it forever, but tl;dr version is - a brilliantly real set of characters, writing that makes the 1300 total pages or so go in no time, plus a story and universe better than LotR. I love LotR.
This one's always tough for me to answer. Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, but only because I read it recently.

Man do we have different tastes. I think Ayn Rand is probably the worst well known author of the 20th century (IMHO, you're entitled to yours, of course:) ). I read 700 pages of Atlas Shrugged and was ready to rip out every page and put it through a shredder by that point. I'm honestly really proud that I got that far before I gave up lol.
Inkheart has to be my favorite fantasy book of all-time, it's the first in a trilogy starting with Inkheart, moving into Inkspell, and the final book Inkdeath, don't be fooled by the crap job of a movie that was loosely based on this that starred Brendan Fraser.
Darkly Dreaming Dexter, it's the first in a series of books, this is a great series and it's what gave Showtime one of their greatest shows of all time.
This is a great book about being a teenager, it also deals with the subjects of working too hard and depression, the book has some incredibly funny moments, the characters are very relatable, and it's an amazing read.
[QUOTE="konvikt_17"]*Vomits* Sorry, it's just. . .my body does that. . . whenever someone mentions. . .He Who Must Not Be Named.my favorites are James Patterson's Cross series.
Theokhoth
heh, to each his own:)
Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
It's an incredible book, about a world where Noughts (white people) are inferior and Crosses (black people) rule society. It follows two characters who fall in love despite one being a Nought and the other a Cross. It's not a soppy romantic novel either, it follows the political rebellion and how the two main characters get wrapped up in it all. Definitely a worthwhile read, it'll really get you thinking :)
