Some people think it's the pinnacle of musical achievement. Others think it's an elitist snoozefest. Where do you stand and why?

I think it's the pinnacle of musical achievement, no other genre will ever reach the level of artistic and technical quality displayed in CIassical music.
But even having said that, I still like Metal better. :P

I like it, but I don't like how older people diss our music just cuz they think it's not as good as their classical music.

I'm 22. That's not old, dammit
Say, do you remember when the matrix came out? 11 years ago... Do you feel old now?I would put myself in between, its good in some cases but its not the pinnacle of mans expressive creation.

And it was absolutely awesome! And it remains awesome to this day with no stupid sequels to soil it's name, yes it does! :D
Its fans may be rather antagonistic in their insistence that it's the apex of music as an artform, but for the most part I have to agree with them. That said, I don't listen to it that much, which says a lot seeing that it's the genre I listen to the second most.

What do you mean, its a shame they never made a sequel. There no way anyone with half a brain could mess up something that amazing![QUOTE="black_cat19"]

It's not a snoozefest for me, you silly cat. It's a snoozefest for all you dilettantes. =PYeah, I think it depends on the composer and the piece. Some classical music is at its best when I want to be gently lulled to deep sleep. But guys like Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, etc. will keep you up at night.
Just try to take a nap to this.
I love classical music and listen to it regularly. My personal preference leans me towards earlier rather than later composers, Mozart is my favourite composer. I do have a soft spot for Elgar though because he was 'a local lad' and was inspired by the countryside I enjoy today.
I love it like a bit softy teddy bear so much that I keep squeezing and squeezing until all the mentally delicious stuffing comes out.
I completely agree w/ this post right here.I think it's the pinnacle of musical achievement, no other genre will ever reach the level of artistic and technical quality displayed in CIassical music.

This. Nothing else approaches it for craftsmanship, originality, scale and complexity. Some people think it's the pinnacle of musical achievement.EolGul2
I love it. I have some MP3s in my computer, they help me relax so much.
My favorites are Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik", Beethoven's 5th and 9th, Orff's "Carmina Burana" and a few more. Oh and of course, Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries".
Yeah, but they're rightI like it, but I don't like how older people diss our music just cuz they think it's not as good as their classical music.

I enjoy orchestras, they engineer movie soundtracks well and even some rock bands have utilized full orchestras.
