I like lifting weights just for the sake of not being really weak or fat. I don't really play sports or anything, I just like excersizing and lifting weights for fun... I'm wierd like that. But I think some people overdo the whole weight lifting thing. I'm not saying it's wrong to do that or anything, it just looks wierd when people get that huge and muscular.

Depends on how you go about doing it. I believe working out with weights are for the mindless and weak. Working out with your own body alone is the real challenge. It builds focus and discipline for the mind.

That sounds more like martial arts.

if you've got a reason, like training for something. I don't agree with posers who just use weights and don't have the first idea wtf they are doing

lifting weights doesnt lose fat, does it? weights are quite fun, but surely sports are a better, less mindless way of being in shape? also, its a very vain sport. what drives them? is it only to look as vascular as possible?

i think that the "perfect" physique is not that of a bodybuilder.

Body-building is completely pointless. I can understand someone trying to get fit, but building muscle for the sake of getting huge is just . . . idiotic.

i'm more and more inclined to think this. it seems to me that the only drive is vanity. if they just wanted the benefits of being fit etc, why starve yourself?

Are we talking the chewed tootsie roll version of bodybuilding? If so, I place it on the same level as eating disorders.

I find people that have muscles bulging out of their bodies quite a turn-off.

Not something I'm interested in. I don't find a problem with it, but I don't see much of an incentive either.

Some become far too big, but what they choose to do with their body is for them to decide.

I enjoy going to the gym though, good times.

It can help turnfat into muscleI guess, but I did include just overall "exsersizing" in there which could meen like cardio which does burn fat. And by not really playing sports just means I don't play on a team but I do like playing stuff for fun like in PE class, and I do agree that it is more fun than just lifting weights in a weight room or running on a treadmill. And lol I've never thought of body building as being a sport, now that just sounds a bit strange, but maybe it's not completely pointless, people could benefit from being ridiculously strong.

If people like cracking out some weights at the gym or after work or whatever then that's fine with me. I think excess is worrying in all things, however, and people who are beefed up and all bumpy and veiny look worrying weird to me. :? It's their body though. Whaddeva.

Like the competition stuff is weird. Going to that degree of anything is a bit strange. Doing it just to get a bit of muscle and stay in shape is fine with me. I can't really have much of an opinion on it because I've never been to a gym.

perhaps they could, but i don't see how. muscle definition doesn't make you stronger than someone with no muscle definition. my martial arts trainer said they are easier to drop, because of how vascular they are, it's like they're always flexed, and if you hit a flexed muscle in the right way........ouch

I think massive amounts of muscle is super unattractive. If you're doing weights and strength training to be healthy or strong, good for you, but when it gets to be less about your physical health and more about how big you are, then it becomes just a stupid idea. Those extreme bodybuilding pictures where you know the people are on steroids are disgusting. It's like reverse anorexia almost.

The hardcore bodybuilders are pretty unhealthy, their diets are really bad, they dehydrate themselves and don't eat before shows, then theres steroids and all that business and they tend to have a lot more size than actual strength so I think it's pretty sad that they are idolized for their physiques.Of course not all body builders are like that.

It's a waste of time IMO but I really can't say that since I waste so much time playing video games lol. Whatever floats your boat I guess, but I really don't see the benefits of it.

bodybuilding isnt actually healthy. mentally or physically. Weight lifting is very good for you, but what builders do is plain irrational and will put them in an early grave

It's stupid. A bunch of sweaty guys pumping hard iron bars just so they can make their arms and chests bulge up. Pfft. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom. And then the gym. And then the bathroom again.

Bodybuilding, like anything else in excess, is not good IMO. I do however, workout and muscle train. I don't look anything like those guys though and prefer to maintain a normal looking body, just a little bulkier than most people.:P

The important thing is if they're strong. Lifting heavy weights is just one expression of strength.

I think it's a waste of time. And the point of bodybuilding and body competitions have been to judge who is the most aesthetically pleasing human, not the biggest. And grown men with fake tans and thongs? You really don't get more homoerotic than that.......

No worries as long as it's about getting fit, but I've seen a lot of guys get excessively vain and obsessive over working out and that really doesn't come across as masculine.

I do left weights, not primarily for building muscles though but to increase my strength and I can't find anything else better than lifting to improve my performance in other sports (soccer) . I must agree that huge bulky muscles do look awkward and to some point disgusting .
