I have a bad habit of dropping my electronics. It costs me a lot of money to buy something new all the time, but I'm used to it by now :P Now that my Zen has finally departed, it's time for something esle. I WOULD just buy another Zen, but that's no fun, so I started looking at the Zune. It's pretty enough, but I'm wondering how tough it is. All my handheld things are strong, Nintendo handhelds, Samsung phones, and now I need to find something (that I can buy at Futureshop or something, I don't like ordering things). So how will this hold up. I suppose I'd best buy a sleeve or something for it, but will that be enough? TIA.

I had one of the first gen Zunes and I hated it. All the stuff they use to hype it up are garbage, unless it has changed since I've owned one. The media sharing has a 3 use or like one month limit on it before it gets deleted, the battery life wasn't too impressive and mine actually bricked one me. I ended up buying an iPod and am happy about that decision...

Pretty damn good, I mean real durable. I drop mine atleast once a day cause I'm always on the move, I have the 80 gig btw. I had a 30 gig but was moving a bed post claim it's life, screen anyway, still plays music but the abuse that one went trough was unbeliveable.

The media sharing has gotten less leaniant too, mainly cause they don't wanna turn it into a P2P hub.

Battery life has improved with the new update for the 30, my sisters went from 8 to 13 cause of the better codecs. The 80 gig gets 32-38 hours, pretty damn sweet.

Audio quality is vastly superiour, amazing to say the least. And the 80 gigs come with some REALLY good headphones, coverd in cloth and not rubber.

Software is leaps and bounds ahead of the first gen, though it's gotten like iTunes where it thinks you're getting all you're music from iTunes and doesn't allow much editing of Metadata. So use media monkey to organize you're music, the podcast works find within the software greatly.

Yucky....iPod. Well, hmm if I get enough testimonies against it I guess I'll go for something else. Did you update the firmware? My Zen just stopped everything once, and once I did that, it was gold :) But yeah, guess I'll see.

I got my Zune about two or three months before the new ones... And it holds up really good. I haven't dropped it from an insane height or anything, but it's pretty good and reliable.

Also....where the heck do you get them lol? Futureshop.ca and Bestbuy.ca doesn't seem to have them.

Edit: Ouch, guess they won't be available in Canada until later this spring. Well I need something this week, what should it be, guys?

Lol, they're releasing in Canada in the Spring. Unless you import them, but don't plan on using the marketplace.

I bought a Zune over the weekend to try it out. I was considering switching from the Creative Zen. The Zune is a nice player and it has some really nice features that i wish Creative had but I wouldn't switch. Creative Zen offers a lot more freedom. I hate the fact that you must use the Zune software for everything.

The Zune 2/Zune 80 Gig is extremely durable ESPECIALLY for a harddrive based player. I've dropped mine numerous times and it still works like a charm. The screen hasn't even gotten scratched and I keep it in my packet (because the screens are made of real glass, not plexiglass or whatever). The battery life is great especially for having to power such a large, vibrant screen. The only thing that I dislike is that you have to hack the Zune to be able to use it as an external harddrive, which is the only advantage the iPod has over it.

Let's just say that I have dropped it more times than I'd like to admit  But it still works perfectly! In fact, I dropped it yesterday and I and after turning it on I thought to myself "Wow kudos to Microsoft for making this thing so durable. I'm glad I didn't buy that extra warranty or whatev" lol
