Still haven't bought a next gen console.

Thought there was no 1080p for 360 and now there is.

So what's the deal do I get the cables that support 1080p with a pro pack or only with elite. gamespot talks about cables that come with the pro they say:

"The three cable types can also support 1080p in games, but copy protection requires HDMI or VGA for 1080p video output. "

Copy protection what does that have to do with anything? I really don't understand do i need to spend more cash and buy more cables with a pro for the best picture or should I just fork out for an elite?

Please help, Cheers...

Component cables support 1080p as well.

But HDMI is the best visual source. Trust me though, the difference between the two is very hard to notice. Besides, there is no video game on the 360 that has a natural resolution of 1080p. They're either 720p or less.

You need a composite cable or hdmi cable to do 1080p although some TVs only support 1080p through HDMI. If you want the best graphically, chose the elite as it sends the signal straight into HDMI and has some other measures to make the graphics just that bit sharper if you have a 1080p tv.

You can do 1080p with these cables: component - only if your TV accepts a 1080p signal input through it's component connections, some do not HDMI and VGA - required for HDCP compliance (the copy protection thing), but that only applies to Blu-ray discs as far as I know, which the 360 can't play anyway

I also believe the newer core models also now come with a HDMI slot.

there are actually a few games on the 360 that are native 1080p the only two I can think off the top of my head are Virtua tennis 3, and NBA street home court.

Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr)/(Y/Cb/Cr) mechanically can support 1080p. What stinks though, is that there are many 1080p HDTV's out there that will artificially limit or prevent you from doing so, either because of weak video processing capabilities on these displays, or because they want to try and make you use a DRM'd connection (HDMI) in order to enjoy it. But to answer the question: Component Video cables and 1080? + Games? Yes + DVD movies? NO; CSS regulations limit it to 480p :( + HD-DVD movies w/o an ICT? 1080i max + HD-DVD movies with an ICT? 540p max  VGA Cable: + Games? Yes + DVD movies? Yes + HD-DVD movies w/o ICT: Yes - HD-DVD movies with ICT? Probably downscaled too. HDMI Cable: + Yes to all Basically, blame the MPAA and intel for starting this fiasco.

No, some people (like me) still have their launch consoles. Every time I send it in for repair, I always hope that they send me one with a HDMI port. But they don't.

Okay you are getting off topic there, but thanks anyway.

I need to make sure I buy the right 1080p T.V.? I plan to get one when I get the console (still undecided)

If I did get the 360 I was looking at the pros that seem to come with 60GBHDD and better cables than in the past. I understand it a bit more now.

This means I don't need a full 1080 p TV . But you're saying games have started being released that are 1080p , I'm guessing when FF13 comes it will be, and so I will want the tv.

any thoughts on that? :

Do you thinkl FF13 be 1080p on the 360? (I know hypothetical)

What TVs support proper 1080p with the cables provided with today's pro ?

How big of a difference would you say? could you point it out, and if so how would you describe it?

I'm no expert but just bought a new series3 Sony bravia last friday, set it at 1080sp and hooked up the HDMI cables. What a huge difference to the HD TV connection cables to the Samsung LCD Tv set up. Same console (elite) but what a diference. The graphics in general are much sharper and the colours much more vivid. The aiming recepticle is now a vivid red, the blues are also almost neon like now. Maybe I had the samsung on the wrong setting but the cable guy set it up.

you are always better off with hdmi.

* hdmi signal is digital

* hdmi cables have greater bandwidth

* hdmi cables can be bought for under $10
