Searching for a new tv. The screen size is 42" but the 1080p price is about 250 dollars more than the 720P, does the difference in the picture justify the extra money spent? Thanks.

No. I have a 50" 720p Plasma, and I think the picture looks a ton better than my friends 60'' 1080P tv. I know those are two different sizes, but that is all I have to compare. I can't even imagine my picture looking even better, as it is crystal clear at 720P, and since you're looking at getting a smaller TV, the quality will look just as good or even better (depending on the brand of the TV how well it was actually made).TheCheat23k
Philips LCD and I have a PS3

yea, especiually since ps3 is getting an update that'll suport DTS-MA HD audio.
picture quality has a lot to do with the quality of the video processor, sony is know for making tvs with a good picture and there are tvs coming out in a couple months that have silicon optix video processors in them. Seeing as how you want to save 250$ i wouldnt assume you'd be willing to shell out more $$ for a better picture. I've seen a 32" sony 720p that's under 1000$, if that's affordable.
i would say spend the 250 only if the colour contrast ratio is above 10,000:1 otherwise its a complete waste of the money and u can tell the diff.
try samsung 42" F8

there's more to a tv than it's conatrast ratio, most of the time those number's arent even accurate anyways. But yea, I'd say go for 1080 if you'l lbe wathing blu-rays and playing games.

Worth it, even for the reason of future-proofing yourself. Eventually they'll use 1080p a bit more.Canvas_Of_Flesh
exactly
The actual Display matters more than a resolution. E.g. contrast, color accuracy, also the source is very important (get a Ps3 for bluray).X360PS3AMD05
I could notice the difference for sure on a 42", go for the 1080p

Alrite here's my final dilemma:
I could go for a 42" 720P (3 HDMI) LG Plasma HDTV and use the extra leftover cash to buy a deceant surround sound, or use all my budget and get a Philips 1080P (2 HDMI) 42" LCD. Any suggestons?
