Origin is having a sale on 30 games, all of which are being sold at 50% off.

These include Crysis, Alan Wake, Bulletstorm, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Dragon Age 2, Rift, the Batmans, Dead Space 1 & 2 and some more.

I know a lot of you don't like Origin, but for peeps like me who can't get some of those titles on Steam, this is a good opportunity at some of those games and I thought I might give you a head's up.

Check it out here

This sale is UK only, that's why some of you might not be able to see it.

I think what we see is Best of 2011 sales, which they offer different titles each week...

I can only see five games with the 50%-off tag - the main two being Dragon Age 2 and Battlefield 3, both (temporarily) $40 each.

I'm happy to see EA doing this. If they want to be serious about competition with steam, they are going to have to have a lot of sales.

Either way, the consumer wins.

I doubt it, seeing as right now Origin is mostly just EA games, they're going to need a lot of other devs to put games on their service to even begin to compete with Steam, and I'm not sure if that will ever happen. I do hope Origin gets better though. The more competition, the better.

I got BF3 for £20 on Origin a month ago and now I just got Batman Arkham City for £12... Origin isn't that bad. PC gamers are just stubborn and too nostalgic.

Just checked the price on Crysis, it's $19.99 USD. Considering it's a five year old game and that $19.99 is Steam's normal asking price, I really hope that isn't their idea of a sale.

I think that heavily depends on what country you're in.

For Australians, it's pretty much the worst digital store out there (even more expensive than Steam, plus we miss out on most of the sales).
So I'd hate to see the store get any larger, as it is very literally hurting gaming down here. EA wins, Australian consumers lose even more.

Just some examples - not that the price comparison is accurate, since Steam frequently has worldwide sales (Origin doesn't) and Steam doesn't restrict us from buying games on cheaper stores (Origin does):
Spore + Galactic Adventures on Steam? $40
Spore + Galactic Adventures on Origin? $90
Kingdoms of Amalur Complete on Steam? $80
Kindgoms of Amalur Complete on Origin? $110
Alice on Steam? $50
Alice on Origin? $80
Not to rant on and on about it, I just find it really strange when people dismiss the very legitimate complaints that people have against EA's store.

Yes. It does show that they're taking this thing seriously. If only Bulletstorm wasn't a GFWL title. I now have to reinstall it because GFWL has "encountered a corrupted file". God damn this terrible "service"

Funny, I've never encountered a single problem with it. Batman, GTA and Bulletstorm were all fine for me.

Well, browsing for a specific file within the game's folder and opening it solved the issue, but that's not the first time I encounter a problem with GFWL. I remember it deleting my Gears of War saved games very vividly and its odd tendency to think I've typed in the wrong username/password and then accepting them as they were 7-8 clicks later.
